London - Day 2

Day Two is in the books.  We started the day by grabbing coffees and hot chocolates and walking to the Tower of London.  We wandered for a bit and then took a tour guided by one of the Beefeaters that lives in the Tower.  After the tour, we visited the different towers and waited in line to see the Crown Jewels.  We spent a little over 4 hours exploring and then walked over to the Tower Bridge.  We walked to the top and did both walkways and then went to the engine room.  Then we took a bus to Piccadilly Circus.  We had lunch and went to Water Stones book shop.  Then we walked to Harrods and wandered the store for a bit.  We ended the night watching England lose to Brazil in a pub near Harrods.

London - Day 1

We had a busy first day in London.  We landed around 6:30 and had been through customs and picked up our bags by around 8:15am.  Then we took a train to our hotel (Native Bankside) to drop off our luggage.  Next we grabbed some coffee and a breakfast snack for the boys before heading to the nearest Big Red Bus stop.  We have 48 hours of hop on/hop off.  We rode up top for a bit but then it started to rain so we moved inside.  We got off at the London Eye and purchased tickets and went for a ride.  It was really neat to see London from above!  Then we got back on the bus and got off at Saint Paul’s Cathedral.  We had lunch in a pub and took some photos.  Then we walked back to the hotel.  The boys decided they wanted to rest for a bit so Phil and I went to the Tate Museum of Modern Art which was right by our hotel.  After the museum, we walked to another pub and the boys enjoyed fish and chips for dinner.  We are all pretty beat so we are heading to bed early!

 

London -Travel Day

We left for London today!  The boys had a half day, so we packed up the car and picked them up from school at 10:55.  We flew out of Kalamazoo with layovers in Detroit and Boston.  Everything went smoothly and we arrived in London at 6:30am local time.
