6 Months Old!

William is 6 months old today! It is amazing how fast the time has gone. He is able to do so much now: he can eat solid foods (he loves his fruit and cereal), he can sit in his high chair, he can sit up and play, and he can sleep 8 + hours at night. Although, last night was the first time in a long time that he woke up in the middle of the night. And oddly, it was at 1:21am. He was born at 1:22. He didn't cry. He was just awake for a few minutes chatting happily in his crib. It was kind of fun for us to all be awake at his official 6 month birthday. We are all going out to dinner tonight to celebrate!

Will is almost bigger than Porter!

Beth's Bachelorette Party

Kristen spent this weekend in Detroit for her friend Beth's bachelorette party. It was a lot of fun - and her first time away from Will overnight!

Working So Hard

Will is 25 weeks old today and he really wants to crawl. When he is on his changing table, he immediately flips over and tries to scoot around. Last night, he was so squirmy it took two of us to get his diaper changed. Fortunately, it was just wet or it could have been a disaster! He can hold himself up on straight arms for several minutes now and will get his knees bent so he is in the crawling position. He just hasn't quite put everything together yet. The only problem is that all this tummy time causes him to spit up. Now that he is eating veggies we have to worry about stains!

We had a really nice weekend. Friday night we went grocery shopping and grabbed a quick bite to eat. Will was really well behaved the entire trip. On Saturday, Will and I took advantage of the relatively nice weather and went for a walk to Starbucks. Then we watched the Michigan game - Go Blue! Then we all went to the playground for a while. Will went on the swings, the teeter-totter, and the slide. Sunday morning we went to watch one of our friends run the GR Marathon (she qualified for Boston - yeah!) and then went to a U of M alumni club function at Robinette's in the evening.

Learning to Sit

Will is starting to get pretty good at sitting up. He can sit up for a while now - when he has both hands on the ground helping him with balance. Sometimes he'll lift them off the ground a wobble a little before toppling over. The video below is about a week old so he falls over pretty quickly. The face plants don't seem to bother him. I'll try to take a new video of him sitting up and will post it later this week.

Babies' Welfare Guild Style Show

On Wednesday, Kristen and Ilze went to the Babies' Welfare Guild Style Show at Cascade Country Club. Kristen is a member of the Guild, which raises money for Camp Blodgett. It was a really nice evening - with wine tasting, a raffle (Kristen won a cool purse from Hot Mama), dinner, and fashion show. We were at a really fun table and had a great time!

Swinging!

Since Phil was in Iowa (see blog post below) for the Michigan game, Will and I went to Klackles Cider Mill with my parents. Although most of the activities were for older kids (pony rides, tractor rides, moon walks, etc), Will did enjoy swinging at the little playground.

At the Michigan Game

Phil went to Iowa with a bunch of his friends for the Michigan football game. They made it on to national TV. His friend Brett is the one dressed up like Santa.

Take 5

This morning, Kristen was on the Take 5 tv show on WZZM 13. It was part of a promo piece for the Babies' Welfare Guild Style Show which is next Wednesday. She got to model some fun clothes from Daniel's boutique in GR. Here is the link to the clip (click on "Giving in Style" on the right hand side):

Sippy Cup and Toes

Now that Will is 5 months old, he is able to have water with "meals." He has a sippy cup with a valve in it so the water only comes out if he sucks on it. He doesn't quite get the concept of drinking, but he likes to hold the cup and "chew" on it. I'm sure it will be quite a shock when he accidentally sucks the first time and gets a mouthful of water. Hopefully we catch that on film!

Will also learned how to put his toes in his mouth.

Dinner with Ernie Harwell

Phil had the opportunity last week to have dinner with long time Tiger's announcer Ernie Harwell. The dinner was arranged through one of Phil's grandmother's friends. Phil is a huge Tiger's fan so this was an amazing opportunity for him.

Botanical Gardens

Kristen and Will went with Grandma to the Botanical Gardens yesterday. Although it was a bit cool, the sun was out and it was a beautiful day. Will really enjoyed the giant horse sculpture and all the trees in the greenhouse. The gardens were decorated for fall and we took some nice photos:
