Vicksburg Bulldog Invitational

PCMB competed at the Vicksburg Bulldog Invitational tonight. The band started the day at 1:45pm which was when they all arrived at school for rehearsal. Phil and I went to volunteer with packing 200 sack dinners for after the competition and also with serving their dinner before they loaded the buses. It takes 7 school buses plus a semi-trailer and smaller trailer to haul all the band gear and props to the competition site. Phil and I got to Vicksburg in time to see three bands perform before Portage. Portage did an amazing job. It was fun to see the full show under the lights. After a few other performances, they called all the drum majors onto the sideline for the awards ceremony. The PC Marching Band earned first place in Class A and the captions for Best Music, Best Marching, Best Percussion, Best Color Guard, and earned the distinction of Grand Champion with an overall score of 95.8!  

 

KOHA 18U - Great Lakes Kickoff Classic Champs

Will's 18U team won the Great Lakes Kickoff Classic which was held in Kalamazoo. Will received the Conn Smythe award for tournament sportsmanship.  

 

HOCO 2026

Alex and a group of his buddies went to the homecoming dance in a group. A few of them started at our house for pizza and pictures.  Then they met up with more friends at YOPA before walking over to the dance.  He said it was a lot of fun.

South Haven

We took our traditional "end of summer" trip to South Haven today. We walked out on both piers, walked through a craft show in the park, and got some ice cream.  We even saw the pirate ship!

 

Go Blue

We went to Ann Arbor on Saturday for the Michigan football game. We parked in our usual spot, had lunch at Pizza House, and walked around campus. Then we went to the band practice field to watch warm-ups. Phil's college friend and his family were in town along with two other college friends. We sat with them and watched the band and then went back to their RV to tailgate for a while. Then we walked over to see the drum line step show and got to the game in time to watch most of warm-ups. The game was... interesting. Michigan looked terrible but managed to get a (controversial) win after a hail Mary pass when 1 second was put back on the game clock. The boys went down on the field to celebrate which was a fun experience for them.
