Portage Muskies Team Banquet

We had the Muskies end of the season banquet tonight at Indian Run Golf Club.  There were awards, dinner and cake, and speeches by the coaches and seniors.  Will was awarded Most Improved Player.  It was a really nice event!  Now we get to start planning for next season...

MSBOA Festival

The Portage Central 8th Grade Band competed in the MSBOA Festival which took place at PCHS this year.  They played three pieces and then participated in sight reading which is really fun to watch.  They have five minutes to look at the music and talk about it without playing.  Then they play through it once for the judges and it is amazing how great they sound.  They did a wonderful job and earned straight "ones" which is the highest rating.  Great job PCMS!

Elementary School Band Tour

Alex was selected to tour the elementary schools to promote joining the band (orchestra and choir were there, too). They played a few songs for the 5th graders at each school and got to have pizza in the band room when they got back to school. He had a fun day!

PCMS Pre Festival Concert

Alex had his pre-festival band concert tonight. The 7th grade band also participated along with the winter color guard and indoor percussion group. They have their festival next week at PCHS so this was a dress rehearsal for them. They did a great job.

Walled Lake Cupid Shootout

Alex shot in the Walled Lake Cupid Shootout this weekend - both 3D and bullseye. He shot a 244 for 3D which wasn't that great of a score but shot a 271 for bullseye which was another PR!

Frozen Faceoff Runners-Up

Phil and Alex were in Chicago this weekend for the Frozen Faceoff tournament. They got to play at three very cool rinks: The Polar Dome Ice Arena in East Dundee, the Black Hawks training facility, and Parkway Bank Arena (the outdoor rink). They went 2-1 in pool play and made it to the championship game. Unfortunately, they lost 0-1 but did come home with runner up medals.
