University of Chicago Campus Tour
On Saturday morning, we had a quick breakfast at the hotel and then drove to Hyde Park for a tour of The University of Chicago. It was another beautiful campus. After the tour, we stopped at the bookstore and then walked into Hyde Park for lunch. Then we walked down to the lake before heading home.

Northwestern Campus Tour
Will and I drove to Evanston on Friday morning for a campus tour of Northwestern. We got there a bit early, so we walked to the student center for coffee and then walked around the athletic complex. We had a very informative general campus tour at 11 and then went into Evanston for lunch. Then we had a more in depth tour at 2:15 called Libraries, Labs, and Learning Beyond the Classroom. It was very interesting and we got to go into a lot of different buildings. We learned about research opportunities, study abroad, and the other resources they have on campus to help students. After the tours, we drove to our hotel downtown. We walked down to Macy’s, saw the Walnut Room in the spring, and went to the Bean. Then we got dinner and went back to the hotel.

Notre Dame Campus Tour
Will spent the day at Notre Dame today. At 10am, we had a business school information session which was really well done. Then we walked around the book store and got lunch. We saw that rain was going to come in around the time of our afternoon walking tour, so we walked around campus and saw the stadium, touchdown Jesus, the Golden Dome, and the Grotto. Then the clouds started to roll in so we went to the admissions center to wait for the tour. We had a 30 minute general presentation followed by a 1.5 hour guided tour around campus. There were only three students in our group and the student leader did a great job.

8th Grade Solo & Ensemble Festival
Alex performed a solo (with a piano accompanist) at Solo & Ensemble Festival at Gull Lake Middle School today. One of his band directors and his high school mentor were there to watch as well. He did a great job and earned Division I which is the highest score. Alex met with this high school mentor, Nolan, after school on Thursdays to practice his piece. Nolan was a senior trumpet player this year.

Phil’s Baseball & Tennis Trophies
We were cleaning out the basement and found Phil’s baseball and tennis trophies from when he was young. He didn’t want to keep them any longer but we decided to take pictures for the blog.
