North Stars Classic Runners-Up

Are you noticing a trend? The Muskies had another five game weekend where they lost in the Championship. Alex pitched 5.1 innings of the championship game and was awarded the MVP by the other team.

PCHS Marching Band Spring Rehearsals

Alex had three spring marching band rehearsals to get ready for next fall.  You can spot him in a few of these photos that the band directors took.  He really likes it so far.

Squirrel - 1, Will - 0

On Monday, Will was out on his scooter.  He swerved to avoid a squirrel, and took a very bad fall.  He called us, and initially just said his front teeth were loose and there was a lot of blood.  We got him to the dentist (she came in on a holiday) and she was able to put the teeth back in position and stabilize them.  We realized he had a pretty big cut on his chin and that he couldn’t really open his mouth without a lot of pain.  So we went to the ER.  They did full CT scans.  Fortunately, his brain and spine came back clear but he did break his jaw in two places.  They admitted him for the night to manage pain, and he had surgery on Tuesday evening.  They had to fix one break with a plate and screws and used heavy bands to keep his mouth fully closed for 2+ weeks for the other break to heal.  He was able to go home on Wednesday afternoon.  He is in good spirits and the pain is being managed well with liquid Tylenol and ibuprofen.  He’s not a fan of the liquid diet, however.

Memorial Weekend Trip to St. Joe

It’s become a tradition to go to St. Joe over Memorial Day Weekend to walk through town, walk along the beach, walk the pier, and have dinner at Silver Beach Pizza.  The day started out rainy but it cleared up in time for a nice evening at the beach.

Wisconsin Campus Tour

Phil and Will went to Madison for a campus visit this weekend.  They stayed right downtown and had breakfast and went to the zoo before the tour.  In the afternoon, they visited the bookstore, had dinner, and sat on the terrace by the union.  On Saturday, they drove to Evanston to walk through Northwestern one more time and then took the train to Wrigleyville to watch the Cubs game before heading home.

Academy Tournament Runners- Up

The Muskies had a tournament in Muskegon this weekend. They lost both their games on Saturday, which meant they had to play extra games on Sunday to make it to the Championship. But they did! They won their first two games against some pretty good teams but ultimately lost a heart-breaker 9-10 in the championship. Three runners-up medals in a row is definitely something to be proud of... but the boys want to win it all!
Alex's foul ball cracked a windshield in the parking lot.

8th Grade Spring Band Concert

It was the 8th grade band concert tonight. They did a great job as usual! Alex was also recognized for being in jazz band, participating in band mentorship, competing in solo & ensemble festival, and auditioning for (and receiving) a Blue Lake scholarship.

IBO Championships

On Saturday morning, Alex participated in the IBO championships.  There were 30 3D targets and he had one arrow for each target.  They were at various distances and were staggered and didn't increase/decrease by one meter like the NASP 3D tournament so it was much trickier.  He did great and didn't have any misses.  It was fun to see the different targets like an alligator and a grizzly bear standing up on its hind legs.

Umpire Appreciation Tournament Runners-Up

On our way back from Louisville, we stopped in Michigan City so Alex could play in the second Muskies game of the tournament.  They advanced to Sunday and won their first two games, so they advanced to the Championship.  Unfortunately, they fell short but were still pretty excited to be runners-up for the second week in a row.

NASP Nationals 2026

Alex and I drove to Louisville after school on Thursday for archery nationals. We stayed right downtown at a really nice Embassy Suites.  Alex shot 3D at 10:15 Friday morning and then had time to run around with teammates before shooting bullseye at 2pm.  He didn’t shoot as well as he would have liked but still had a fun day.  After we got back to the hotel, we walked across the pedestrian bridge to Indiana and had dinner at a fun spot with yard games.  Then we got ice cream before walking back to the hotel.
