Weekend in the D

We went to Detroit this weekend because Aunt Maran and Uncle Josh were in town for the holiday. We had a really nice visit. William was on his best behavior - although, he didn't start crawling despite the $20 bribe from Grann.

EGR Tree Lighting

Today was a really fun day. Phil went into work for a little bit in the morning and William and I stayed home to play and start our holiday baking. Phil got home around lunch time so we ran out for a bite to eat and some shopping. We avoided the mall so the crowds weren't too bad. Then this evening, we went to the EGR tree lighting ceremony in the middle of Gas Light Village. Will was bundled up in his new snowsuit and stayed toasty warm. We ran into several friends while we were there. We stayed until Santa arrived and they lit the tree. They had horse drawn hay rides, kids could sit on Santa's lap, and there was a reindeer petting zoo. We saw the reindeer but headed home pretty early. Will needed dinner and we are heading to Detroit in the morning.

All bundled up!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with Kristen's family. William was on his best behavior (despite taking a long nap at home which almost caused us to miss dinner!) and enjoyed his first bites of mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce. He was great entertainment at dinner!

30 Weeks Old (tomorrow)!

Here are a few cute photos from the past week. Will has been busy sitting and playing. He is getting so close to crawling - he can take one "step" but hasn't been able to put together a string of them yet. We took Will to Ramona's Table Friday night and he sat in a restaurant high chair for the first time. He did very well. He loved looking at the lights and playing with our straws. He ate his dinner there as well but got a little fussy when he was out of food.

If you look closely, you can see my tooth!

Mmmmm.... sock monkey!

I don't think his mouth could get any bigger

Rocking! (It's hard work... sometimes he gets frustrated and sometimes he gets tired)

Aruba!

We were in Aruba for the past four days (Thursday - Monday) for Kristen's friend's wedding. It was a really great trip. The island was really nice, the weather was perfect, and the wedding was wonderful. We were pretty busy Thursday - Saturday, but were able to spend the day on Sunday relaxing on the beach and by the pool. It was nice to get a little sun but it was great to get back to Will!

6 Month Well Visit

Will had his 6 month well visit today. He weighed in at 17 lbs 9oz (39th percentile) and 26.25" (only 30th percentile). His doctor thinks the nurse measured incorrectly either this time or at the last visit because he only grew 1/4" since his 4 month visit. Based on how his clothes fit, we know that isn't the case. Otherwise, he is in great shape. His one tooth has broken the surface (no pics yet) and she thought she could feel some swelling on the other side. He can sit and play for long periods of time, can move from a sitting to a crawling position, and rocks in the crawling position. He also "crawls" backwards which is very common. This afternoon, Phil and I watched him take his first forward "crawl step." He moved one arm forward and one leg forward but then got tired and plopped down. He'll probably be moving across the room before we know it!

Teething

Little William is in the process of getting his first tooth. On Saturday, I noticed a "bulge" under his gums with a small slit on the top. It has been getting progressively bigger but the tooth hasn't sprouted yet! We are leaving for Aruba later this evening, and are hoping that it breaks the surface before then. We'll be sad if he gets his first tooth while we're gone! Will has been drooling a lot (more than usual) and is constantly gnawing on things (again, more than usual!). He is usually really happy and energetic but has been a little quieter than usual the past few days so I'm sure its bothering him. Hopefully we'll have tooth pictures to show you next week!

Here are a few cute photos of Will. There is also a video of him holding his bottle and feeding himself. He's been grabbing the bottle and holding it for a while now but yesterday he held on from the beginning of the feeding (all 6 oz) and would actually take the bottle out of his mouth and put it back in. It was a little messy - the bottle would drip on his face, but he found his mouth again everytime. This video isn't great - I was the only one home so I had to take it myself.
