Trip to Cincinnati

We had a really fun long weekend in Cincinnati visiting Phil's Aunt, Uncle, and Cousins. Grann also came down for the weekend. We drove down late Thursday night and William did really well in the car. On Friday, the cousins came over for lunch and birthday cake (Will was really excited) before heading to the Children's Museum. The kids had fun playing in the water, driving cars, and playing drums. Then we went home for Will to nap - which did not go well. He never fell asleep and had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction. Then we all went out to dinner at the Cactus Pear. On Sunday, we made a trip to the playground and then we took Will downtown after his nap (which went much better the second day) to see the river, play on the playground down there, and just walk around. Then we had Skyline for dinner. We were up early on Sunday and got on the road. Will was a great traveler and even said (completely unprompted) "Thank you mommy and daddy for taking me to Mimi and GBob's house!"

We had a really fun weekend full of time with friends. On Friday night, we went to our friends' house around the corner. Phil had volunteered to help them put up a shed so they had us over for pizza so the kids could play while the dads worked. Will had fun playing with Joseph and Elise and all their toys.

Saturday morning, we went out to breakfast and then walked into Gaslight for the art fair. We stopped at the lake for Will to play and he made a new friend - a 16 month old little girl. We tried to put Will down for his nap a little early since we had a BBQ to go to at 5pm, but he ended up playing in his room and fell asleep right by the door (see below). We were able to snap this photo when we went to wake him up. Despite being a little crabby when he first got up, he had a great time at the barbeque playing with 4 other little kids. They ate together outside, pushed each other on the swings, and had a blast in the bounce house in the basement. Will kept guzzling half consumed juice boxes and would climb onto the bar stools to grab chips when no one was looking (or so he thought). He was up way past his bedtime (9:30) but the kids were having so much fun we didn't have the heart to leave early.

On Sunday, we went to breakfast at Kristen's parents for Father's Day, walked into town, and went to the playground.

To be fair, William did escape a couple times before the issue was ultimately resolved. He's very sneaky!

Scooting

We had a nice relaxing weekend. Friday night we ordered in pizza and just played at home for a bit. On Saturday, we walked into town and then took Will to the "big mall" since the weather was on the cool side. We rode the elevators and escalators and then came home for lunch. Then we went to the playground and ran into Sam and Aaron! Will had fun playing with them. Then it was home for a nap. On Sunday, we went for another walk and then played at home since it was even cooler than Saturday. We went to Grandma and Grandpa's for a quick visit and then came home for a (short) nap. Phil took Will back to the playground for a little bit. Then Will rode his scooter after dinner.

Picnics at the Lake

One of Will's new favorite activities is having a picnic lunch. Typically, they either take place at Manhattan Park or at Reed's Lake. Grandma and Grandpa have been taking him as well and they even made a stop a the boardwalk.

Fun with Dad

Kristen had to go to Chicago this weekend for work so Phil and William had a nice father/son weekend. They had a great time: they went downtown to Festival, went to the playground, played with the neighbor boys, and went to the zoo.

We took advantage of the beautiful day and did some painting in the backyard. Will seemed to enjoy himself. He was quite serious through the whole process.
