The boys and I went up to Grand Rapids for the day to visit Grandma and Grandpa before they head down to Florida for the month of March. While Grandma and Alex played, Grandpa and I took William over to Patterson Ice Arena so he could try out ice skating. He has been asking to go for quite a while and the Olympics have further piqued his interest. He did a great job considering it was his first time out!

Field Trip to Kids Gym

William had a field trip to Kids Gym on Wednesday. Phil took a couple hours off work so he could chaperon. Will had a lot of fun and has requested that we have his birthday party there this year!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a very nice Valentine's Day. We started off with heart shaped cinnamon rolls, bacon and fruit. The boys made some heart decorations for the kitchen. As a special treat, we had a picnic lunch and watched Charlie Brown Valentine's Day. In the afternoon, William helped me make heart shaped ravioli. He was a big help with the pasta machine. Then we had a nice family dinner followed by some Olympics.

Alex has been trying so hard to play Wii. He can't quite handle bowling yet but we have had some success with training tennis. He can serve the ball and hit the target but then doesn't quite understand he can swing again. But he is so proud of himself for hitting it one time. Sorry for the video orientation.  I switched part way through and it doesn't correct itself.

Soccer All-Star

Will decided he wanted to up the ante on our lego towers - he wanted to reach the ceiling in the family room. It took a little trial and error, and a little input from mom, but we did it! And it was sturdy enough to stay standing for a few hours so dad could see it, too.

We celebrated our 10 year anniversary last Friday. Grandma and Grandpa stayed with the boys so we could take a trip up north for a long weekend. We had a wonderful time up in Petoskey. We stayed at Stafford's Bay View Inn. We spent a lot of time reading, shopping, and going out for nice dinners... things we couldn't do (at least not easily) with two kids in tow. We also had a day at the spa which was wonderful. The boys had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa. They were very sad to see them go on Sunday. We actually met them in Grand Rapids on our way back home to see the "Jeff and Paige" show at the EGR library. Will really enjoyed seeing them in person. It was Will's 4th time seeing them in concert but his first time was when he was 4 months old so I don't know if that counts. Although, that was where we picked up our first CD which started our "Jeff Kagen Obsession."

Will has really started to enjoy soccer. He has done a great job at his past two classes. We were able to get several of his goals on video today.

Alex is still sleeping well in his toddler bed.  He decided he wasn't going to nap one day when Grandma and Grandpa were here.  Instead, he loaded up his crib with toys and books.  It took us back to when William was his age!  He has also started sleeping with his light on both at nap and bedtime.  We put him down and turn out the light.  He gets up immediately and turns it on.  Then hops back into bed (without a peep) and goes to sleep.  Last night, we turned it off before we went to bed but it was on at 5:45 this morning.  We had the monitor on all night so he must have just turned in on and hopped back into bed.  We didn't hear a thing!  Silly little boy.

Sledding

It was a balmy 25 degrees today so we decided to take the boys sledding. News Channel 3 showed up to film reactions to "Groundhog Phil" seeing his shadow.
