Annual Christmas Tree Hunt

On Friday we followed tradition and went to Hart's Tree Farm to find the perfect Christmas tree. We met our friends in the parking lot and took the tractor ride to the Frasier Firs. There were a lot of great trees to choose from but in the end we all agreed on the same tree. After tree hunting, we drove into Rockford for lunch at the Corner Bar. We got there just before 11 and were sat right away. We got there at the perfect time - within a few minutes there was a line/wait. After lunch, we went down to the spillway and shopped a little bit before heading home to decorate the tree.

Holiday Season

The boys had the day off from school on Wednesday so Grandpa came down so we could set up the trains. The boys were so excited - Alex has been talking about it for weeks. We also took advantage of the afternoon off and baked our gingerbread boys. We wrapped up the day with Harry Potter - Prisoner of Azkaban.

Skating with the Broncos

On Sunday, we went to the "Skate with the Broncos" at Lawson Arena. The boys had fun skating with the players. One of the players skated around the rink with Alex for a bit and chatted with him and then the head coach came out on the ice for a photo with him. After skating, the players sign autographs and they provide a pizza dinner. During the autograph session, one of the players recognized Will from his hockey camp over the summer.

First Snow!

The first snowfall did not disappoint! At first, we weren't expecting much so we built tiny snowmen with snow that had settled on the tables and chairs. But, after a while, we realized we had enough for a full grown snowman! The boys spent several hours outside playing.

William's Music Concert

William had his first music concert this afternoon. It took place in the music room - his teacher finds that the kids do better their first time if it is in the familiar classroom with a smaller audience. It was a very nice show. They learned a lot in the first two months of school!

Hockey and Skating

Alex finished up his Learn to Skate program today. He has become a great little skater! They all got a USA hockey jersey at the end of the session and he is really looking forward to Beginner Hockey which starts mid December. It was a game day for William. He did great! He had a hat trick in his first game and then also scored goals in his other two games. He has gotten really good at skating around people with the puck which helps with the goal scoring.

Fire & Ice Hockey Tournament

William had his first hockey tournament this weekend. He got his new jersey that morning and was excited to show it off. He is #6 this year. His team played very well. They lost their first game by quite a bit - the other team seemed to be a lot bigger than they were. But then they won their next three games. Grandma and Grandpa came down to watch the last two games since we had plans with friends. They got to see William score 2 goals in the third game and 3 goals in the last game. We are very proud of our little hockey player.
