Camp Drop Off

On Sunday, we dropped Will off at Bair Lake for a week of camp. He was so excited. He is in a cabin with his friend Parker and two of their buddies (Ethan and Myles) are right next door. On Monday, I dropped Alex off for his first day of Day Camp. His friend Rylan is in his group and we caught a glimpse of the big kids on their way to breakfast.
Look for #24 with the orange buff around his neck.

Summer Fun

The boys have been making the most of their summer with slip and slide whiffle ball, fireflies, and sleepovers!  Alex also got a cute haircut - he's still growing it out.  We just needed to give it a little clean-up/shape.

Will's 10 Year Old Birthday Trip

Phil and Will left for Seven Springs Mountain Resort on Thursday afternoon for Will's 10 Year Old Birthday Trip. He was able to choose a place for a long weekend trip with Phil. When we visited there a few years ago, Will wasn't tall enough for the zip line course so that was something he really wanted to do this trip. They also did the other mountain activities: alpine slide, chair lift, kayaks, Euro Bungee, and Alpine Tower. They also spent a lot of time in the pool and went to the bowling alley at the resort. On Sunday, they left mid-morning and stopped in Cleveland for a baseball game. It sounds like they both had a great weekend.

Weekend at the Cottage

Since Phil and Will were out of town for Will's "10 year old Trip," Alex and I went up to the cottage with Grandma. We drove to GR on Thursday afternoon and went out to dinner at Red Robin followed by some shopping at Barnes and Noble. On Friday morning, we got up early and arrived at the cottage by 10am. It was so hot! But, we all went out on the pontoon with Aunt Mara and Uncle Ken. Alex tried fishing but we decided it was too hot for the fish to be biting (water temp was 79 degrees) so he and Uncle Ken went tubing for a while. Then we went to Bud's to have dinner and cool off. In the middle of the night, we woke up to severe thunderstorms but it brought the temperatures down a bit. On Saturday, we had rain and storms almost all day. We spent a lot of time reading and playing games on the porch. We did run to Moomer's for ice cream, the used book store, and Bud's for mocha chillers. On Sunday, we got up early so we could get to GR in time for the noon showing of Detective Pikachu.

Fishing Camp

The boys had a successful week at Fishing Camp. This was Will's fourth year attending the camp and Alex's first year. They each had friends that were in the camp as well. They learned about native fish to Michigan, made lures, had a fish fry and went fishing every day. On the final day, they went to Kevin VanDam's house to fish in his pond. They both came home with a bucket of fish which we donated to the Grindalls since we were heading out of town.
