Saturday Up North

On Saturday, we took a few family photos around the cottage and then drove to Empire to do the Empire Bluffs hike.  Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate and it started to pour halfway up the trail.  So, we decided to drive north to Pyramid Point and the sun was out by the time we got there.  We did the hike and then drove to Traverse City for lunch at J&S Hamburg.  Then we went back to the disc golf course but there was a tournament going on so there were delays at each tee.  We only played a few holes and then went back to the cottage for a fire.

Friday Up North

Since the boys didn't have official school on Friday, we decided to take a trip up north for a long weekend.  They were able to get most of their school work done in the car on the way up Thursday night.  On Friday morning, we enjoyed the sunrise over the lake and the boys played board games on the porch.  Then we went into town to play mini-golf at Pirates Cove.  Everyone managed to get a hole in one!  Next we picked up lunch at Bay Breads and had a picnic by the bay.  Then it was on to disc golf at Hickory Hills.  After disc golf, we went to the candy store in Sutton's Bay and then had dinner at Hop Lot.  Finally, we went to our property to look at the view and walk the perimeter.

Congratulations, Will!

We are so proud of Will for making the 2020-2021 12U Silver KWings team.  He had try-outs Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week.  There were close to 50 kids trying out for 33 spots (17 on the gold team, 16 on the silver).  Wednesday was "invite only" and he was asked back. There were definitely a few kids that stood out as being better than the rest but Will held his own with the rest.  We were so excited to see the list posted on Wednesday night.  There are 7 kids from his State Finals team last year.  The level of competition will be much higher this year but they put together a really solid team.  It should be a fun season.  

Alex's Baseball Practice

While the weather has been so nice, Alex's baseball team has been practicing during the week.  His hitting has definitely improved and he loves pitching.

Home-run Hitter

The Wild are playing fall baseball this year and had a scrimmage on Wednesday night.  Will hit an out-of-the-park home run down the left field line.  It was very exciting!

Binder Park Zoo

We took a fun trip to the Binder Park Zoo today.  The weather was perfect and the animals were very active!  The line was too long to feed the giraffes but we enjoyed the other exhibits.
