Happy Halloween!

We had a fun couple days celebrating Halloween - COVID style.  On Thursday morning, the "Room 5 Morning Crew" had a mini Halloween Party before school started.  The classrooms weren't doing big parties (just some Halloween activities and fun snacks) and the kids didn't wear costumes.  So one of my coworkers brought in Halloween music and some treats for the boys (and moms) that hang out together before school.  On Friday, we received a fun Halloween package in the mail from Aunt Maran and Uncle Josh and we carved pumpkins in the evening.  Both Will and Alex had hockey on Saturday.  Our neighborhood figured out safe ways to hand out candy (mostly individually wrapped bags/cups set up on tables) so the boys were able to go out trick or treating (with masks).

Apple Picking

We took a quick trip to Schultz's for apple picking today.  It was pretty cold and we had the orchard pretty much to ourselves.  We also picked up some cider and donuts.

Hot Air Balloons

We went for a walk last night before the Michigan game and saw three hot air balloons floating over the neighborhood.  We were able to watch them for most of the walk.

KWings Gear

The KWings gear is slowly trickling in.  The boys received their warm-ups last weekend.  They have added helmet stickers and just got their jerseys last night.  Now we are just waiting for the bags and shorts.  It will be exciting when they come onto the ice fully dressed for the first time!

Monster Hot Cocoa

The boys and I went downtown today to look at the skeletons on the mall and to try the Monster Hot Cocoa at Cherri's Chocol'Art.  It didn't disappoint:  hot chocolate, whipped cream, eyeball sprinkles, chocolate web, and a rainbow marshmallow (they were out of cotton candy).  We also stopped at Rocket Fizz for candy.

KWings vs Lake Shore Chiefs

The KWings played their second game on Saturday afternoon against the Lake Shore Chiefs.  It was a close game but the KWings won 2-0.  Will scored one of their goals which was exciting!  One of the team dad's live streamed the game and did play by play which was fun to watch later.

Gull Meadow Farms

On Friday night, we went to Gull Meadow Farms,  Although we did a lot of the farm activities during Sunflower Days, the boys wanted to do the corn maze and see the pig races (Will's favorite).  It was a beautiful fall evening!

Hockey - Opening Weekend

Alex had his first weekend of hockey. Things look different this year - they have to come to the rink mostly dressed, they can only have one spectator for practice, and everyone needs to wear a mask. He looked really good out there!

Will had his first KWings game in Holland. For games, the kids can warm up outside in the parking lot and then can enter the building 30 minutes before game time to get dressed (2 locker rooms for distancing). Each player is able to bring 2 family members to watch (Alex "joined" another mom that was at the game by herself) and everyone wears a mask. The KWings didn't win but they were playing a team that has been together for a few years. This team was formed this year and they only had two practices before their first game. It was exciting because Will played really well and scored his team's first goal of the season! I wasn't able to capture the goal but did record the celebration.  He played really well and had several other scoring opportunities.
