Happy Halloween!

We had a great Halloween!  The day started with hockey games for the boys.  Phil to Alex to Wings West for his game and I took Will to Battle Creek for his.  Alex’s team won 20-0 against a GR team.  Alex had 2 goals.  Will’s team also won 8-4 against a team from Muskegon.  Will had a goal and committed his first penalty.  He lifted a kids’ stick (which is allowed) but the other player fell over so Will was called for a hook.  We were happy to see him being more aggressive!  After hockey, we went to a teammate’s house for pizza and Halloween fun. The dad built an amazing haunted house in his basement.  You had to crawl through tunnels, go up stairs and across a bridge, and were scared by mechanical ghosts/monsters and also by Mr. Podd jumping out at you.  It was pretty incredible!  Then we went home to put on costumes and met up with neighbors for a bit before the boys went out trick or treating.  Will went out with a group from the neighborhood and Alex went with some boys on our block.  Phil went along with Alex and I went home to hand out candy with Winger.  Will took the prize with over 10 lbs of candy.

Pumpkins

The boys had a half day of school on Friday so we ran out to get pumpkins before Alex's hockey practice. We've found huge ones at Wedel's (on sale!) the past few years but they were sold out. So we went down the road to Schultz's. Then we carved them Saturday afternoon. The boys carved them completely on their own. We are pleased with how they turned out.

Gull Meadow Farms

With hockey tournaments in back to back weekend, we hadn't had a chance to go to Gull Meadow Farms. We decided to go after Alex's hockey game today. We did the corn maze, shot the apple cannons, watched the pig races and did some of the other farm activities. We had a quick dinner and also bought cider and donuts. It got pretty cold after a while so we wrapped things up once the sun started to set.

Safety for a Day

The fifth graders were at Sherman Lake Camp for the day so they needed some substitute safeties from the 4th grade class. Alex and 3 of his classmates (parents all work at MBE) were chosen. He was responsible for getting two Young Fivers off bus 42 and transferring them to Bus 57. Since Bus 57 was running late, he also got to be line leader.
