Baseball in Michigan City
We had SO MUCH BASEBALL this weekend. Both boys were in Michigan City, which was convenient. The Muskies played their first game on Friday night and won 13-3. Will had two games early Saturday morning. They lost their first game 6-7 but then won their next two (12-3 and 9-6). In between games, we went to Shoreline Brewery with the team. Alex played his second game Saturday afternoon and lost 12-2. After the afternoon games, we had a team pizza party with the Muskies so we got home around 10pm. On Sunday, we were out the door at 6:30 am. The Wild won 5-0 and the Muskies won 11-7. So both teams advanced to the semi finals. The Muskie lost a heartbreaker 11-10 but the Wild advanced to the championship game. The Wild started off strong but then we went into a sun delay - the setting sun perfectly lined up with the pitchers mound from home plate. The batters, catchers, and ump couldn’t see the ball. Unfortunately, they finished runners up but came home with some fun bling. We got home just before midnight. It was an exhausting, but fun weekend!
Week 2 of Summer
Week Two of summer kept us busy. The boys still had baseball each night and I had a hockey managers meeting one evening. Will enjoyed golf league and we went to a friend's pool with some hockey families.

First Week of Summer
The boys had a fun first week of summer vacation. On Monday, Will started his golf league and Alex started archery camp. On Tuesday, Will started a baseball clinic run by the Portage Central baseball team. The boys also went to the neighborhood pool for the first time in three summers (closed the last two years). On Wednesday, Will went to a birthday sleepover at a friends' house. On Thursday, Will umped for Alex's little league game. He did a great job - and we captured a fun image of him calling Alex out at home (correct call). Then on Friday, we met our friends to go strawberry picking. We made 4 quarts of strawberry ice cream, pureed and froze berries for another 4 quarts of ice cream, made 3 pints of strawberry jam, 1 pint of strawberry sauce, and kept a bunch just to eat. Phil took Will and a friend to play golf in the afternoon. Then Will helped at Alex's All Star practice and we went downtown for a late dinner after practice. Not a bad start to summer.

Baseball Weekend
Both boys had baseball tournaments this weekend. Alex was in Galeburg and Will was in Stevensville. On Saturday, the Muskies played great. They came out strong against Around the Horn and won 14-5. The last time they played the score was reversed. Then they played the Lakeshore Warriors and won 12-0. They advanced to the semi-final game on Sunday against the Maroons but lost that 6-10. They played well all weekend and had a lot of fun. Meanwhile, the Wild were also having a good weekend. On Saturday, the beat the Grizzlies (14-12) and the Flames (16-5). On Sunday, they beat the Flames again (4-3) and the Landsharks (4-2) to advance to the semi-finals. They held their own against a really good Top Tier team (that travels all over the country to play baseball) but still lost 0-8. Will had several really good hits that went to the fence and played two games at catcher.

WPLL Highlights for Alex
Alex has been playing really well in Little League. He went 3-3 tonight and also pitched well. He earned himself the Golden Glove for his performance. He has been playing "up" on the Majors (11-12 year olds) team with some of his Muskie teammates. They will drop back down to age level to play on the Junior Majors (9-10 year olds) All Star Team that Phil is coaching.

BPA Bronze Battle Runner-Up
The Wild started off strong this weekend winning both their games on Saturday. The beat the Mishawaka Mayhem 5-0 and then the South Bend Land Sharks 11-8. On Sunday, they won against TB Frame 11-3 to earn a spot in the finals. They played the Land Sharks again, and unfortunately, didn't come out on top and ended up with the runner-up plaque.

Moorsbridge Cultural Festival
After the field trip, ALex went home to get ready for All Star practice. I stayed at school to help set up for the Cultural Heritage Festival. We had booths from 16 nationalities represented at Moorsbridge (there are many more!). The booths had crafts, activities, food samples, games, etc. We also had a stage set up with different performances, food trucks, and a bounce house. It was a beautiful evening and we had an amazing turnout!
