Week 7 of Summer

We started the week by going to a Growlers game with the other Wild families.  The boys made it on the Jumbotron and Alex ran the bases during the 7th inning stretch.  Alex also got a ball during warmups.  This week was the 14U mini camp that Will’s coach put together.  It was fun to see the boys back on the ice.

Week 6 of Summer

In addition to Dude Perfect and the Little League State tournament (which have their own posts), we kept busy with pool parties this week. Alex had an "end of season" party with his Muskie teammates. Will had a KWings team building party at the Podd's which was fun as usual. They played so much volleyball, enjoyed a taco feast, spent time in the hot tub, and in general just had fun. Since I wasn't able to be at all three of Alex's games, I followed along on game changer.

Little League State Tournament - Sunday

There were storms in the area on Sunday, so their noon game was delayed from 12:30 until 4:30 in the afternoon. They hung around the hotel for a while and then went up to West Branch for lunch. WPLL lost again - there were some really strong teams in the state tournament! The boys did receive medals for being their district representative. Alex also came home with pins from every team that brought them plus some extra pins from the teams they played. Although they didn't get any wins, the boys had a great time all weekend. The experience is something they won't forget!

Little League State Tournament - Saturday

The game on Saturday was at 3:30.  After breakfast, Phil and Alex explored downtown Midland before heading to the fields.  Unfortunately, they lost again to a tough team from Midland.  After their game, they decided to go to the Midland Loons baseball game as a team.  They had lawn seats and the boys had fun running around.  After the game, there was more swimming at the hotel.

Little League State Tournament - Friday

After the opening ceremonies, the boys had a lot of down time before their 5:30 game. They had lunch and went to a nice park across the street from the field. Some of the team went to a movie to stay cool but the rest went back to the fields to climb the rock wall and watch some of the other games. They also started trading their team/district pins. Unfortunately, they lost their Friday night game to Escanaba. But the kids weren't upset for too long. We went back to the park for a team pizza party and the kids got to play. Then they went back to the hotel for a late night swim.

Little League State Tournament Opening Ceremony

The Little League State Tournament is in West Branch this weekend. We sent them off in style with hotel door signs, painted cars, and goodie bags full of sunflower seeds, big league chew, eye black, foam baseballs, homerun bracelets, and other snacks. The Opening Ceremonies were at 9am on Friday morning. The boys (and coaches) enjoyed the experience.
