Fun with Grann

We drove to Detroit today. Grann gave the boys a “Day of Fun” for Hanukkah with indoor go carts, virtual reality, glow in the dark putt putt, and an escape room.  Then we did a taco dinner and had early birthday cake for Alex.  The dogs had so much fun chasing each other all day.

Merry Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas!  The boys woke up at 6:30 (they set alarms) and we went downstairs to find a huge pile of gifts under the tree.  We had our traditional breakfast of cinnamon rolls and bacon before starting on our stockings.  We always take our time and play with new items as we go.  The boys got a shuffleboard table from Santa but we think we may need better wax/sand.  But they were at least able to use the bowling feature.  We also paused gift opening to play our new board game, Dominion, which we all really liked.  We didn’t finish opening gifts until early afternoon.  We spent the rest of the day playing games and watched Elf  before bed.

Snow Day and Christmas Eve

We spent our snow day and Christmas Eve baking, clearing the driveway, and playing games. Since we still had a blizzard warning, we decided to postpone our Christmas Eve festivities in Grand Rapids.  Alex put out cookies for Santa and we monitored the NORAD Santa tracker.

Calm Before the Storm - Santa and Candy Cane Lane

Well.... in anticipation of the "bomb cyclone" that was headed towards west Michigan (blizzard conditions, high snow accumulation) PPS announced at noon today that school would be closed on Friday.  So winter break started a day early!  Since it was’t snowing after school, we went downtown to see the lights and visit with Santa.  Alex knew that this close to Christmas we might just get one of Santa’s helper.  He was able to share his list and they both mailed their lists to the North Pole.  Due to the approaching storm, Starbucks was closed.  So instead of hot chocolate, we went to a place that features 28” pizzas and shared a few slices.  Then we wandered down the mall and Candy Cane Lane as the snow started to fall.  When we got home, the boys did their annual candy cane hunt and we watched a holiday movie.

Happy Hanukkah

Will had a game against Birmingham on Sunday, we we drove over early to have Hanukkah lunch with Grann, Aunt Maran, Uncle Josh and the girls. It was a quick visit but it was nice to see everyone! Then, they came to Will's game and saw the KWings win 5-1. Will also scored a goal. When we got home, we had our own Hanukkah dinner.
