Hockey in Holland

Alex had his first hockey tournament in Holland this weekend. We left right after school and went straight to the rink. Unfortunately, they lost their first game to the West Dundee Leafs 3-2. After the game, we went out for a team dinner at Big Lake Brewery in downtown Holland. On Saturday morning, the boys won their first game against the Canton Wolves 7-1. After the game, we went to a local apple orchard/cider mill for lunch, cider, and donuts. Then we went back to the hotel so Alex could relax and I walked around downtown Holland for a bit. The boys won their second game on Saturday against a tough Northern Express team 4-2. That set them up for the semi finals early on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, they lost their semi-final game 4-5 so we were done for the weekend. The boys were dissapointed but still had a fun weekend.

Tigers' Game - Fan Appreciation

Phil and Will went to the Tigers' game on Saturday. They were hoping to get to see them clinch a spot in the playoffs, but they actually did that Friday night. They still went to the game but unfortunately, it was in a rain delay for two hours. They sat in the concourse and watched the Michigan game while they waited. After the game started, someone from the Tigers' staff came up to Will and asked if he would like to go on the field and win a prize for Fan Appreciation Day. He went down on the field, was on the jumbotron, and won a new 55" TV and the latest XBox. What a fun day!

 

Gull Meadow Farms

We had a hockey free Sunday and fall temperatures so we decided to go to Gull Meadow Farms for the afternoon. We played "Guess My Pumpkin," "Guess My Apple," barnyard baseball, barnyard football, giant corn hole, completed the corn maze (we found all the hidden hole punches which earned us each a free donut), and walked through the petting zoo. We also did the apple cannons and Alex did the jump pillow. It was a fun way to spend an afternoon.
