WMU Shovel Crew - Take 2

Alex's team got to shovel for the WMU vs Michigan hockey game. It was a sell out so it was a fun game to be at - and it was hard to get tickets. Phil and Alex left Will's game early to get to Lawson and then Will and I joined after the Muskies game. Western won 4-2.

Muskies Win!

The Muskies had a nice 4-0 win over Kalamazoo United on Friday night. Will (and his line) had seven shifts in the game which was fun to watch. They moved him to center so he was taking the face-offs.

Christmas Tree Day!

After a couple years off (due to hockey and high school football state championship games), we resumed our tradition of cutting down our Christmas tree with the Joneses and VanderVeldes. It was a beautiful snowy morning and we met them at Hart's Tree Farm at 9:30. We took the hay ride to the Fraser firs and found a beautiful tree. Then we all went to Rockford for lunch at the Corner Bar. It was so fun to see everyone again!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We spent Thanksgiving in Grand Rapids this year. We went to the Hofmeyers in time to see the start of the Lion's game. We took a break from football to enjoy dinner and then watched the close ending of the game over dessert. After dinner, Phil and I walked around Reed's Lake and the boys went back to Grandma's. We spent the night at Grandma's and were ready to cut down our tree on Friday morning.

 

First Muskies Games

The Muskies played their first games this weekend. They were away at Caledonia on Friday night (lost 5-2) and then home on Saturday against Jenison (won 3-2).  There were actually students in attendance for the home game which was fun.  The Muskies play Mattawan on Wednesday night and Wings West should be packed.  

 

WMU Shovel Crew

Alex's hockey team got to be part of the "Shovel Crew" at the Western Michigan hockey game tonight. They went out during stoppages and shoveled the "snow" off the ice. Phil, Will, and I went to the game as well. On Saturday, Will went to another WMU hockey game with a friend and ran into some Muskies teammates. Alex gets to shovel again for the Michigan vs WMU game in a few weeks.

Muskies Scrimmages

The Muskies had three shirt scrimmages at Wings West today.  They took head shots for the league program beforehand. It was fun to see Will in a Muskies jersey!

 

First Archery Tournament

Alex had his first archery tournament of the season in Grand Ledge today. They have only had one practice so he didn't do as well as he would have liked. But it is fun to have archery back!

Volunteering at the 8U Jamboree and Chili Challenge

KOHA hosted their 10th Annual 8U Jamboree and Chili Challenge at Wings West on Saturday.  They had 35 8U teams from around the state come to play in the tournament and needed all the older KOHA teams to volunteer.  I worked the registration table most of the day.  Will was on the ice in the morning with the Muskies for the Try Hockey For Free event that took place before the Jamboree.  Then he stuck around and helped sell hotdogs/hamburgers outside and also moved the boards between games for the zamboni.  Phil helped with the boards as well and also supervised Alex's team in the chili tent where they were serving chili to guests.  It was a fun day - they estimated around 1000 youth hockey players were on site!

 

Muskies Hockey - Congrats, Will!

Will found out tonight that he made the Portage Muskies High School hockey team.  We are so excited for him!  Here are some photos of their locker room at Wings West.
