William had a really good tummy time today. He held himself up pretty high and didn't start to fuss right away. When he got tired, he realized he could rest with his head turned to the side instead of face down (which usually gets him really fired up). He was also pretty chatty. And yes, you do hear Jon and Kate Plus 8 in the background.
William is twelve weeks old today. Look at how much he's grown!
This weekend, we went up north to Aunt Mara and Uncle Ken's cottage near Interlochen. It was William's first trip up north, and he had a great time despite the abnormally cool temperatures. We arrived at the cottage around noon on Friday. We went into Interlochen and had lunch at Bud's. Then we started a camp fire and sat around it for the rest of the afternoon (Phil was in heaven!). The Hart's came over for dinner and then we had s'mores around the campfire. Saturday was cool and rainy. The weather cleared up a little in the afternoon and we were able to take a nice walk around the Interlochen campus and around Interlochen State Park. In the evening, Aunt Mara and Uncle Ken babysat so Phil and I could go to a concert at Interlochen. Then we spent more time around the campfire. Sunday was a beautiful day and we were able to go out on the kayaks before heading home. Here are some pictures:
William had his 2 month check-up today. He weighed in at 12lbs 14 oz and 24" long. His doctor said he has a very strong neck and legs and will probably be able to turn himself over from stomach to back pretty soon. They did say we need to increase the amount of "tummy time" he has every day. He seems to be getting better at it and seems to enjoy it more so hopefully it won't be a miserable experience! He got his first set of immunizations. He cried right after they stabbed him, but seemed to settle down afterwards. He has been a little fussy this afternoon and a little groggy but that is normal. William is 11 weeks old today! He is starting to "play" with his toys. He has starting grabbing on to toys, will bat at them (and not just by accident) and has started bringing the toys to his mouth. It takes a lot of concentration on his part! I'll try to capture it on video. Tomorrow is his 2 month check-up where he'll be getting his first set of shots! I'll post an update tomorrow with his length, weight, etc.Frog Legs
All newborns are born with the Moro Reflex. Basically, when they get startled their arms and legs shoot out to "protect" them. William's kicks in as he is falling asleep. We think he has the "falling sensation" and freaks out everytime he is about to drift off to sleep. It is really funny to watch. The reflex is supposed to go away after 2 months but his is still going strong. Hopefully it disappears in the next few weeks because it makes falling asleep difficult as you will see from these video clips:
