Go East!
On Friday night, we went into Gaslight to meet a few of Phil's coworkers for dinner at Derby Station and the first football game. It was crazy in town - parking was limited, there were people tailgating on top of the ramp, in Big Bob's parking lot, and in front yards near downtown. While we were waiting for our dinner, the EGR band marched over to perform by the fountain. We took Will out to listen and ran into a few of our friends. After dinner, we went to the game. It was standing room only. We made it until half time but then Will was getting really tired. He seemed to enjoy the people, the lights, etc.
On Saturday, we walked back into town to pick up a few things at the grocery store and then took Will to the library to get his first library card. In the afternoon, he made a trip to the playground with dad.
On Sunday morning, we went for another walk and Will got to run around on the football field. Then it was off to get him a haircut. After lunch, we walked up to get ice cream before nap. Then there was another father/son trip to the playground.

Weekend Fun!
We had a really fun weekend. On Friday night, we had a babysitter come over so we could meet our friends for a boat ride on Reeds Lake. We brought dinner on board and just cruised around for a few hours. Will had a great time playing with Celia - he practically pushes us out the door when she comes over.
On Saturday, Will slept in until almost 7:15 (typically he's up by 6:15) which was really nice. After breakfast, we walked into Gaslight. When we got home, we transferred the last of his toys, books, and clothes over to his big boy room. We also set up his guard rail. He was so excited. He helped us move everything (see post from Saturday below). Then we went downtown for lunch and got caught in a major storm. We had told Will we were going to go to the art museum tto do a craft but started having second thoughts when we saw the downpour. He kept talking about it, however, so we ran through the rain (which Will loved) to the musuem. Will had fun painting a few small tiles and it had stopped raining by the time we were done. Then it was home for Will's first nap in his big boy room. He did great. He turned the lights on and played for a bit, but never cried or got worked up. When we went into this room afterwards, we found a bunch of his toy food in bed. He just wanted a snack!
On Sunday morning, we did another walk into Gaslight. Then we had to head to the Whitecaps game (U of M Club sponsored an event). Will sat with dad during registration and actually seemed a little interested in the game. Then we got to go to the barbeque deck for lunch. Will actually asked to go back to his seat to watch the game. He loved the YMCA and kept asking if he could run the bases. They were letting kids run the bases after the game so we stuck around and Phil took him down on the field. He was probably the littlest guy down there. He did great until second base - then he got distracted by the giant pig w/ an innertube riding a bike. Who can blame him? He back tracked twice to say hi to the pig before one of the volunteers pointed him in the right direction. Then he found dad at third base and ran to home plate. He was pretty proud of himself.

Big Boy Room
Our big project for this summer was getting Will's Big Boy Room set up. We ripped up the carpet in our guest room and were pleasantly surprised to find the hardwood floors in good condition. We decided not to refinish them at this time since they will get beat up with blocks, cars, etc. We had to pull off some of the molding and replace the quarter round. Then we had the room painted last week. Will's new bed and nightstand were delivered this week and we brought his play table up from the basement. The bed is kind of high so we are waiting for the step stool to arrive before we put up the side rail and officially move him over. We also still need to hang some artwork - but we're getting there! Right now, he likes going in there to play and loves showing it off to visitors.
