Despite the fact that Will was pretty sick on Thursday and Friday, we had a pretty nice weekend. Friday night we just stayed in since Will was under the weather and Phil was just getting back from Chicago. We had a lazy morning on Saturday and then went to the Schnitz for lunch. We had some surprise visitors in the afternoon - cousin Julia and her husband John were in tiwn from Madison. We got to spend a few hours with them as well as the Hofmeyers (Aunt Katie was also in town). On Sunday, we went for a nice walk in the morning. Will was in a bit of "a mood" all day but we were able to walk up to Woodcliff to watch Phil play tennis after nap.
Alex has gotten quite good at tummy time which you will see below.

Too Much Fun
It was such a warm day, I told Will he could play with water on the deck. I didn't want to get out the water table so we just filled up some buckets. As you saw yesterday, he loves playing in the dirt. He discovered that Dirt + Water = Mud! I'm sure I'll regret it later, but he was having so much fun playing I didn't have the heart to stop him. He does know that once the flowers are planted he can't play in the dirt any more.

Tale of Two Cities
This weekend, Phil and William went to Detroit to visit Grann and Kristen and Alex stayed in Grand Rapids. The weather was beautiful in both locations so both boys were able to spend a lot of time outside.
In Detroit, they went to Birmingham to see Grann's office and had lunch. They also played on the playground and Will got a cool new orange (his favorite color) Tigers shirt. They did a lot of bike riding and walking while there. On Saturday night, Phil was able to go down to the Joe to see the Michigan hockey game.
In Grand Rapids, we went for a lot of stroller rides into Gaslight. Alex has been smiling a lot and is getting more and more interested in toys. He is also much more alert during walks - he doesn't just sleep the whole time.
On Sunday afternoon, we all went up to Jersey Junction (Will rode his bike) for some orange sherbet. The line was long but Will was very patient. Then we grilled burgers for dinner and ate out on the deck.

Signs of Spring
Alex had his 2 month appointment on Friday. He weighed 11.7 lbs (21%) and was 23.5" (61%). He was perfectly healthy. We go back again at 4 months.
We've had great weather this past week so we were able to spend a lot of time outside. Will has become quite a pro at his bike. We've been taking pretty long rides around the neighborhood. All the fresh air and exercise has caused Will to take some nice long naps again. His naps were down to 45-60 minutes or so, but lately, they've been back at the 2 hour mark. Unfortunately, Alex's afternoon nap has not been going well. He's been sleeping more in the morning since he's been in the stroller or carrier more lately with the nice weather. His doctor also said we should try to stop swaddling him. He had been swaddled with "one arm out" and we've been trying to swaddle just the lower half of his body. I think the combination of the two are causing the problems. He sleeps for maybe 20 minutes, then whimpers for 20 minutes on and off, and then starts to seriously cry.
We had a really nice weekend. On Saturday, we went downtown to walk on the skywalk since it was still a bit chilly. After naps, we took a nice walk with our new stroller. On Sunday, we were able to walk to the grocery store in the morning since it was already 50 and then had a picnic lunch in the front yard. After naps, Will rode his bike to the playground and spent almost 2 hours running around. He even made a few new friends while he was there which was very cute. Even Alex got to play a little - he rode on the swings and the teeter totter.

Playing
Alex has started "playing." He will reach out and swat at the hanging toys on his play mat. He really likes the little monkey (Will liked the giraffe best).

Pizza Party!
On Saturday night, we went over to our friends' house for a "pizza party." The kids now out number the adults 9-8. Will had a great time playing with everyone - he really likes the bounce house in the basement!
