Last Day of Preschool Party

For William's end of the year party, all the preschool and daycare classes went to Jungle Joe's to play on the bounce houses. Siblings were also welcome. William had a great time running around with his buddies one last time. Alex was so excited to be included - he conquered even the largest obstacle course bouncy. It was sad to say goodbye to Mrs. LaLonde but we are hoping we may see her occasionally if her daughter babysits for us. Alex is looking forward to being in her preschool class in another year and a half.
Alex can do it all, too!

Last Day of Preschool

Today was William's last official day of preschool. We still have his class party tomorrow at Jungle Joe's but today was the last day in the classroom. He brought in his end of year gift for Mrs. LaLonde and posed nicely for several pictures. He is excited that it is summer vacation but is sad that he won't see all his friends every day.

First Trip to the Dentist (for Alex)

The boys had their dentist appointments on Monday. William has been several times - starting at age 3. We called several pediatric dentists at age one and two, however, they said unless there were problems, they usually didn't see patients for the first time until they were 3. At which point we just decided to go with our family dentist. Although Alex is not even 2 1/2, they said they would let him hop up in the chair and just see how it goes. William went first and Alex watch attentively. When it was his turn, he hopped right up and chatted with the hygienist. They were able to count and scrape his teeth. They also were able to apply the fluoride treatment. After polishing two teeth, however, he was done. He opened up for the dentist to look but wanted nothing to do with the brush. But, all in all, not a bad first experience.

When we walked into the office, there were two huge tubs of peanut butter they were collecting for a food drive. I couldn't resist snapping a photo of Alex with them. William made sure to tell everyone in the office that Alex was allergic. He can be a pretty good big brother.

First T-Ball Game

Will had his first T-ball game today. It was a beautiful morning for a ball game! In t-ball, they go through the entire line-up each inning so everyone has a lot of turns at bat. Even if the runner is thrown out at first (which I doubt ever happens!) the runner still gets to stay on first base. So the score after three innings was 30-30. The last batter gets to run all the bases. William realized this after the first inning and sat at the end of the bench so he would get a chance to do it (the coach rotates so everyone gets a turn). William did very well. He had a couple good hits off the tee - one even went in the air. He also fielded a few balls that came his way and threw towards first. He seems to understand the basic rules which is good. He seemed to enjoy it. After the game, we ran to the library and then went out to lunch. In the afternoon, we played outside and then had a fire and made s'mores.

This and That

It was cold and rainy last week so we did a lot of fun indoor activities.

The weather has been much better this week. William is still enjoying t-ball practice. Their first game is this Saturday. This afternoon it was warm and sunny, so we got out the sprinkler for this first time this year.  Last summer, William was a little hesitant to get wet but he seemed to like it this time around.  Alex was a little shocked at first but then enjoyed himself.

Field Trip to the Air Zoo

Today I was able to chaperon William's class trip to the Air Zoo. Grandma and Grandpa came down to watch Alex for the morning. William was paired up with his friend Marius. The boys had a great time and were on their best behavior. We stared the morning in one of the classrooms where we learned about the ocean (which seemed odd since we were add the air zoo). Then we had a quick snack before being set loose to explore. The kids all had so much fun riding all the rides. Fortunately, most of the kids were tall enough to ride them alone... most parents rode the balloon ride once and then were sidelined. It's brutal! Then we took the bus back to Curious Kids. I ran William home to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa and then ran Alex to the doctor. He's had a cold for a while but woke up today with crusty, pink eyes. The pediatrician confirmed pink eye and said he also has an ear infection. Poor kiddo. He seems to be in pretty good spirits but I'm sure he's pretty uncomfortable.
