U of M Football

Today we took William to his first U of M football game. Grandma and Grandpa came down early this morning to watch Alex for the day. William and I got on the road around 7:30 and met Phil in Ann Arbor. We parked the car and then walked to the union to have a quick snack and spin the cube. Then we walked over to Hoover so we could get a (two) dollar dog and watch the drum line perform their step show. Then we finished the walk to the stadium. We got there a little before 11 so we had plenty of time to find our seats, watch warm-ups, etc. When we were at the cube, I posted a picture of William to Instagram and it was actually displayed on the scoreboard a couple times! They scrolled through game day photos for about 10-15 minutes, and we happened to be there and were looking at the right time. He thought that was pretty cool! William loved the game. He asked a lot of questions (of course) and was so excited when Michigan scored. We told him we could leave half way through the 4th quarter but he insisted he wanted to stay until time ran out. Then we walked to Pizza House for dinner before walking through the diag. Then it was time to head home.

Visit from Uncle Andrew

Uncle Andrew came to town this week! After some flight delays, he arrived Tuesday evening. William was so excited and after about 2 minutes Alex was, too! There were a lot of giggles and the boys danced to "Jeff and Paige" up in William's room. On Wednesday, Phil had to go to work. After breakfast, we too Uncle Andrew to the nature center. We hiked down to the Kalamazoo River and then had a picnic lunch. Then we spent some time in "Nature's Playground" before heading back home. We met Phil at Moorsbridge for the open house and then went home to grill and play in the yard. On Thursday, we spent some time on the porch in the morning. Then we drove downtown to walk around a bit and go to Bell's for lunch. Later in the afternoon, Phil and Andrew took the boys to the pool. We grilled our dinner and had a campfire with roasted marshmallows. We are all going to attend the neighborhood "Up and At 'Em" breakfast tomorrow and then Phil and Andrew will head to Detroit. The boys will be so sad to see him go!

Back to School Preparations

We have been gearing up for Kindergarten around here! A few weeks ago, William and I went to Target to pick up his school supplies. We also started looking for a backpack, and finally found a Lightning McQueen one that he loves! We also went on our second annual back to school lunch/shopping date. We drove up to GR and Alex got to spend some quality time with Grandma and Grandpa. William and I had lunch at Red Robin (his choice, same as last year) and then did some clothes shopping at the mall. We found quite a few shirts and sweatshirts that he liked. He's been wearing some of the short sleeve ones to break them in before school starts.

When we got back from Detroit, we found out that he has Mrs. Grindall (our friend/neighbor/mom of his buddy Parker) and Mrs. O as his teachers. He was pretty excited to have Mrs. Grindall even though it meant he would not be in Parker's class. Last night, we had an open house at Moorsbridge. The teachers weren't there but we were able to get into his new classroom. He seemed to like everything and asked if we could stay and play in the room. He was also pretty excited that there were 2 bathrooms in the classroom (Tarzan and Jane) and he thought they were so cool.

Last Minute Summer Fun

We have been trying to squeeze in a few more things before the end of the summer. We went to a pool party at Mr. Paul's house (Phil's former boss at Plante Moran), took a trip to the Air Zoo, learned some new games, did some puzzles on the porch, and went to the pool a few more times.
