Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! We spent the day: at hockey, carving pumpkins, reading Halloween books, and playing games. Finally, at 5pm, we went over to our neighbor's house for a little Halloween party. Then we got the kiddos in their costumes and braved the rain for trick or treating. William actually threw in the towel first but Alex was determined to go down a few more streets. We were all pretty soaked by the time we got home!

Fall Harvest

Tonight was the Fall Harvest up at school (as if there wasn't enough excitement during the day!). The kids enjoyed the games and had a few treats while we were there. The biggest hit, especially with Alex, was the DJ and dance floor. He probably danced half the time we were there. He really wanted to get his friend Addie to dance, but she was a little hesitant...

Moorsbridge Halloween

William had his class party at school today. After Alex's parade, I went up to Moorsbridge to help Will's class get into their costumes and to help with the games. It was fun to cycle through all the first grade classrooms and see the kids in their costumes. They had a lot of fun activities including: bean bag tosses, pin the nose on the pumpkin, a candy corn dice game, Halloween match games, mummy art project, candy corn pudding snack, and becoming mummies. Then Phil, Grandma, and Alex met us for the all-school parade.

CHUM Halloween

Alex had his Halloween party at school today. The kids were able to wear their costumes all day and did several fun Halloween games and crafts. At 11am, we were able to go up to school for their Halloween parade and performance. Mrs. DiJulio said the kids really belt out the songs when it is just them but they were all a bit shy today. We thought Alex did a great job!

Soap Box Derby Preparations

William had a great time working with his fellow scouts on their soap box derby car. The majority of the car was already built, but they did have to install the hood and brake. They also got to decorate it and take it for a spin down the block.

Rain Gutter Regatta

This fall, William decided to give Tiger Scouts a try. Most of the scout meetings are on Tuesday nights, and we had a conflict with skating until this week. Over the weekend, we worked on his rain gutter regatta boat and got all of his den patches added to his scouting shirt. Several of William's good friends from school and baseball are involved which makes it even more fun. The boys had a lot of fun racing their boats tonight!

Hockey III and Snowplow Sam I

On Tuesday night, the boys had their last skating class of the session. Each group does a short "performance" to showcase the skills they learned. They also receive certificates and patches if they pass their level. We weren't sure how they were going to do. Although Alex is just as good as the older kids in his group, we thought they might keep him back based on age. At William's level, they are a bit more picky and don't advance you unless you can actually do the skills pretty well. But... both boys passed! William will continue with hockey on the weekends but will not take the Tuesday night classes anymore. Alex is going to move on to Snowplow Sam II. He is starting to show a lot of interest in hockey. We got him a lefty stick and he has been playing roller hockey in the driveway.

Trike-a-thon and Hockey with Grandma and Grandpa

On Thursday, Grandma and Grandpa came down to watch the boys while Phil and I went to Chicago for a wedding. They got to walk William to the bus stop and take Alex to preschool on Friday. On Saturday morning, they took William to hockey practice. In the afternoon, they went up to CHUM for Alex's trike-a-thon and carnival. Alex was the fastest kid there and lapped everyone a couple times. They got to play some games, had cotton candy and popcorn, and climbed on a fire truck. There were also bounce houses and pumpkin painting.
