Some Hockey Pictures

Will had the opportunity to play a mini game (16 minutes) in between two high school games at Wings West today. Woodward's Garage only had 4 players able to attend so they played the full 16 minutes.

Woodworking

The boys had Friday off from school so we went to Grand Rapids to do some more woodworking with Uncle Ken. Alex built his treasure chest (he still has the shelf to build) and William built a pompon launcher. It was a fun day!

Kids' Gym Field Trip

On Monday night, Alex had VIP night at school. He and Phil got to go to CHUM and do a scavenger hunt and obstacle course. Then on Wednesday, Alex had a field trip to Kids' Gym. He was so excited that they got to play in "the big room." They played some games on the bouncy floor and did two obstacle courses. Then they finished with some parachute play.

Scouting and Science

William received a science kit for Christmas. One of the bigger projects was the volcano. We built the volcano a while ago but had to wait several days for it to dry before we could do the experiments. The boys had fun watching it "erupt." We ran the experiment a few times. Now it is drying so we can do a different experiment with it later. William also had a scout meeting this week where they built batteries. He and Parker also got to help roll up the flag after the meeting. William asked if he could start helping with dinner every now and then. He chose a recipe from the Sesame Street Cook Book (home made chicken nuggets). He mixed together the sauce and started coating the chicken. When we were maybe half way done, he decided cooking was hard and boring and he didn't want to do it anymore.

Sledding

Sunday was the perfect day for sledding! William had a great time. Alex went down the hill a couple times but then decided the playground was a lot more fun!

Toolbox and Autos

On Saturday, Phil and William drove to Detroit to go to the auto show. They parked downtown and took the People Mover all around. They spent about 3 hours at the auto show. William's favorite part was climbing into the back of the SUVs to see how the third row of seats went down. They stopped for dinner in Ann Arbor before heading home. While they were in Detroit, Alex and I went to Grand Rapids so Alex could do some woodworking with Uncle Ken. The Hofmeyers gave him a woodworking kit for Christmas and Alex wanted to work on one of the projects. He decided to start with the toolbox because "I need a place to put my tools when I work on the other two projects." Very logical. He had a lot of fun in Uncle Ken's shop! He has been carrying his tool box around every day "just in case I need to fix something."

Snow Day Fun!

On Tuesday, we had our first snow day of the year. The boys slept in and we had pancakes for breakfast. Once the sun was up, we bundled up and went outside to play. We lasted about an hour before coming in for some hot cocoa. We went back out in the afternoon. Today the sun came out and we were finally able to make a snowman.
