Bronco Team Party

On Saturday, the Broncos had their end of season team party at Airway Lanes. The boys (and siblings) bowled, had pizza, and played some games in the arcade. They also gave out team awards and gave a funny anecdote about each player. For Will, they said he was a trivia whiz in the locker room. We weren't surprised about that! For his team award, he was given "Best Team Player" because he was always unselfish with the puck and would always look for an open teammate to pass to. We weren't surprised about that award either, but we we are very proud of him! It was a great way to end the season but we are all a little sad that it is over. It was a great group of kids, coaches and parents.

KIA Exhibit

The Kalamazoo Institute of Art currently has an exhibit called "Young Artists of Kalamazoo County." They set up an area in the museum with art from all the local elementary, middle, and high schools. Will's art teacher chose one of his pieces to be on display. There were about 30 pieces of art from Moorsbridge - 5 from each grade so it was quite an honor. It was fun to go downtown to see the exhibit - there was some very impressive artwork!

Welcome, Shadow!

On Saturday, we were able to bury sweet Sherlock in the backyard. He has a nice spot under one of the pine trees where Alex put a painted rock. On Sunday, we welcomed Shadow to the family. Shadow is only 1.5 months old and is so little compared to Brady (and Sherlock). She is a sweet little guinea pig that enjoys snuggles. She is still pretty timid but will explore Alex's room when we take her out of her cage.

Alex's Final Hockey Games

Saturday was Alex's last day of hockey for the season as well. He played very well in his three games - scoring 9 goals. They received their medals afterwards which is always exciting for the kids.

Will's Final Hockey Weekend

Will had his final hockey tournament of the season in South Bend last weekend.  The Broncos tied a team from Huron County (in the "thumb") on Friday afternoon.  Will played well, scored a goal, and received the game puck.  We went for a walk around campus for a bit before the team dinner that night.  On Saturday morning, we got to play on the Notre Dame ice which was a cool experience.  Unfortunately, we lost that game.  Then we played another Bronco team on Saturday afternoon.  We started off slow, but came from behind to win 8-6.  Will had a great "one-timer" which one of the dads captured from the bench.  We ended up playing the consolation game on Sunday morning against the same Bronco team.  That one ended up in a tie.

Tribute to Sherlock

Poor, sweet, little Sherlock died today. Right before Christmas, he came down with pneumonia. The vet put him on antibiotics and he seemed to recover. Then, in the beginning of February, he started to act sick again. We took him back to the vet and they prescribed more medicine. After the full two weeks, he wasn't really any better. We called them back and they gave us another round. Unfortunately, he just kept getting worse. Last night, we could tell his time was limited. We got in a lot of snuggles and shed a lot of tears. He was still alive when we left for school but passed away at some point during the day. Alex is very sad - he has such a big heart. But, we know we gave Sherlock a good life for the short amount of time he was with us and did everything we could to help him.
