California Trip - Day 7: Yosemite Valley

On Sunday we went into the Valley one last time. We parked near Half Dome Village and walked almost the entire way around Yosemite Valley. We walked about 12 miles in total. The highlight of the hike was stopping at the base of El Capitan which is one of the world's largest granite monoliths. A few months ago, we watched "Free Solo" which was about Alex Honnold who climbed El Cap without ropes. Using the binoculars, we were able to see some climbers (with ropes) on the face.  We also saw two bears cross the trail in front of us!

We were actually able to climb over some rocks and boulders to get to the base to touch El Cap. Alex even did his own "free solo" climb. After our hike, we did a little souvenir shopping and then went back to the hotel for the pool, pizza, and s'mores.
