Day Trip to the Cottage

The boys and I picked up Grandma this morning and we went to the cottage for a day on the lake.  The boys had to play the baseball game on the porch before we went to Bud's for lunch on their porch.  When we got back to the cottage, we went out on the lake for fishing and swimming.  We found a great spot in the cove and the boys caught 13 fish in a very short amount of time (8 for Will, 5 for Alex).  They were all small but it was fun for them to just keep pulling them out of the water.  We are excited to go back up there next week!

More Sandlot Games

West Portage Sandlot Games

West Portage has been doing some baseball clinics (small groups) for the kids since the season was cancelled.  This week, they decided to do some sandlot games.  Alex was excited to play and had some nice hits off the pitching machine.  

                                                                                                                         

5th Annual Kids' Day

Today we celebrated the 5th Annual Kids' Day - COVID style.  We started with carry-out tacos for lunch which we ate at a park overlooking Austin Lake.  Then we went to Airway to play mini golf (everyone got a hole in one) and the boys did the ropes course.  Next was a trip to Book Bug to choose new books and a trip downtown to Rocket Fizz for some candy.  We grilled burgers for dinner and played Settlers of Catan on the porch before bed.  We weren't able to the traditional indoor activities this year but still had a great day!

Great Season, Wild!

The Wild had their final game of the season tonight. They were able to play a lot of baseball this season despite the crazy circumstances.

Blueberry Picking

The boys and I went to Brookside Farms today to pick blueberries. It was a beautiful morning and we were able to pick a few buckets full of Patriot Blueberries (big and sweet). We are planning to make blueberry bars, lemon-blueberry ice cream, blueberry muffins and will freeze them for smoothies.

Sunday Scrimmage

The Wild played two scrimmage games on Sunday morning. They lost both games but Will had two great line drives to center field.

Home Run!

Will hit his first over-the-fence home run in practice tonight. He was able to keep the ball for his trophy shelf. We are all proud of him!

Advanced Anglers Fishing Camp

Will was able to attend the Advanced Anglers Fishing Camp at Ramona Park this week.  They moved all the activities outside - the kids sat at picnic tables under one of the pavilions.  Although they weren't able to go to Kevin VanDam's house on the last day (too much COVID liability) they were able to do a lot of fishing from the beach and dock.  Will received another fishing pole and tackle box and had a lot of fun.
