Happy Hanukkah!

The boys opened their Hanukkah gifts from us on Sunday night (2022 calendars, flannel sheets, and video games) but we didn't have a chance to do dinner until tonight.  

Thanksgiving Hockey Classic

The KWings played in the Thanksgiving Classic in Chicago this weekend. They won their first game on Friday night 3-0 against the Midwest Blackbirds. They played again on Saturday, and won 2-0 against the Leafs-Burton. Will had a really good game and had a great assist (which would have gone in even if his teammate didn't tap it in) and won the MVP belt. Unfortunately, they lost their second game on Saturday 5-6 against the Leafs-Stoffers. They still earned a spot in the semi-finals on Sunday morning. They played the Lakeshore Chiefs and quickly fell behind. Will had back-to-back goals to tie the game at 4-4 but we ended up losing 4-5. Will did win the hard hat for hardest worker that game.  Their record is still an impressive 18-2-4 this season.

 

Christmas Tree Day!

We weren't able to cut down our tree last year due to Will's hockey schedule, but the tradition continues this year! We met our friends at Hart's Tree Farm Friday morning and found our Christmas tree. Then it was off to The Corner Bar for lunch. Phil and Will left for Chicago from lunch and Alex and I went back to Grandma's to help her decorate a bit and to pick up Winger. Alex and I brought the tree in and got it set up. Then we were able to decorate as a family Sunday night. We even had some snow this weekend which really helped get us in the holiday spirit.

Alex had a hockey game in Grand Rapids on Sunday afternoon so we went to Grandma's house a little early to help finish up her holiday decorations. Alex was a good helper and decorated her tree. We also did her outside flower boxes and mantle. Then Aunt Mara and Uncle Ken came to Alex's hockey game. The Broncos won 4-1.

 

Go Blue!

The boys had hockey during the football game, but we were all able to catch the very end of the game.  Alex and I watched from the family room and Phil and Will were at the restaurant at the hockey rink in Chicago.  GO BLUE!

From Happiness to Quarantine

Well, we went from extreme happiness because Alex had his first dose of the vaccine to sadness because he tested positive for COVID two days later. he started showing some symptoms so we took him in to be tested as a precaution. His rapid test came back negative but his PCR came back positive two days later. Since the rest of us were fully vaccinated, we could go about our business and just had to wear a mask as a precaution when in public. Alex was quarantined to his room for a week and his teacher had him up and running with virtual school after 1 hour of being notified. He did get to go outside for a bit to play in the first snowfall and also play carpet ball. He was anle to go back to school on the 17th and the rest of us gor the "all clear" with negative tests yesterday.

One year ago, we brought home a scared little puppy.  We love you, Winger!

Side Effect: Happiness

Phil took Alex to get his first dose of the COVID vaccine today.  When Phil asked if he had any side effects, Alex replied, “Happiness.”
