Week 11 of Summer

We crammed a lot into week 11 of summer before and after Uncle Andrew’s visit.  We started at Arvesta Farms where the boys played on the inflatable water obstacle course for hours.  The KWings  jerseys, warmups and workout gear came in.  So I spent a few hours sorting everything by player. Then, will spent two nights at a reffing clinic for Hockey.  It included four hours of classroom time plus 2 hours on ice.  On Friday morning, we had the annual Applegate breakfast (which we organized).  The boys and I went bowling in the afternoon.  We also bought Alex a new archery target. Then on Saturday, we went to Gull Meadow Farms to see the hot air balloon festival.

Week 10 of Summer

We only had a couple days before heading up North.  Alex had a sleepover with his neighborhood buddies, Will wrapped up Golf League, and we spent some time at the pool.  It’s hard to believe summer is almost over!

Platte River and Fishing Part 2

We knew there was rain in the forecast for Saturday afternoon, but the boys wanted to get a few hours in at the beach.  So we went back to the Platte River for a bit before the downpour.  Then we drove to Traverse for a bit of shopping and lunch.  We stopped at Bud’s for ice cream on our way back to the cottage and then spent a relaxing evening reading on the porch and playing games.  On Sunday, we packed things up and went back on the boat for some more fishing.  It wasn’t quite as successful as the previous outing, but the boys still managed to catch 12 fish before we ran out of worms.  We at a quick lunch in Interlochen before heading home.  We always love our time up north!

Pirates Cove, Disc Golf, and Hop Lot

On Friday morning, we went into Traverse to play mini golf at Pirates Cove.  It was the worst round of mini golf we’ve played as a family - not a single hole in one.  In previous years, we would almost always each get one.  Next we went to get lunch.  Unfortunately, Bay Breads wasn’t serving sandwiches.  Fortunately, we found a new favorite deli in Folgarelli’s.  After lunch we played 18 holes of disc golf at Hickory Hills before heading to Suttons Bay.  We made a quick stop at the property, did a little shopping, and then went to shop Lot.  We played some card games and the boys best two groups of adults at corn hole.  We finished the night at Paesano’s for
Pizza and breadsticks.
