Summer 2024 - Week 7

Alex started the week with a sleepover at a neighbor's house and Will had Segment 2 of driver’s training Monday - Wednesday.  He passed his test and now just needs a few more night hours before he can take his road test.  We took trips to Binder Park Zoo and Michigan’s Adventure (those outings have their own posts) and Alex had a team hockey party in Austin Lake on Saturday.  On Sunday, Phil went up North golfing with friends.  The boys went to sticks and pucks at Wings West, we played Catan on the porch while it drizzled, and we made homemade choco-tacos.  

 

Michigan’s Adventure

The boys and I went to Michigan’s Adventure today and had a great time.  The boys rode so many rides:  Shivering Timbers, Wolverine Wildcat, Grand Rapids, Mad Mouse, and Logger’s Run.  I joined them for the ferris wheel, bumper cars, mini golf, and Zack’s Zoomer (small wooden coaster).  We spent several hours in the water park in the afternoon.  It was a very fun day!

 

Binder Park Zoo

The boys and I went to Binder Park Zoo today.  It had been a few years since we visited and it was fun to see some of the new exhibits.  We still loved Wild Africa and feeding the giraffes, the bears, prairie dogs, and snow leopard.  The animals were very active!  The boys also tried out the new ropes course and zip lines in the middle of the zoo.  

 

Summer 2024 - Week 6

Alex started the week with a sleepover at a friend’s house.  They went to the pool, played basketball, and hockey.  Will was excited for the release of NCAA Football ‘25.  Alex’s mattress arrived and he was excited to be able to spread out and have room for Winger’s bed on his bed.  Will also had summer hockey and went to a friend’s lake house after their baseball games on Friday.  The weekend was full of baseball:  Will in Rockford and Alex in Grosse Pointe for Little League States.  

 

2024 All Star State Tournament - Fun in Grosse Point

The team had a great time while at the All Star tournament.  We went out for a team dinner on Thursday after the opening ceremony.  After the game on Friday morning, they grabbed a meal at the concession stand and watched a few games.  Then they went to Metro Park to play at the beach.  There was a team dinner overlooking the water on Friday night.  On Saturday, they watched more baseball, swam, and did a team pizza party at the hotel.  On Sunday morning, Phil and Alex went to Belle Isle.
