Uncle Andrew arrived on Tuesday morning for his annual visit. The boys were so excited and were pretty much glued to him the entire time he was here. On Tuesday, the boys got Uncle Andrew settled and we went to the pool after lunch. We grilled our dinner and then the boys walked down to the Farmer's Market playground for a while. On Wednesday, Phil had to go to work. We had a water fight in the morning and then went to the nature center after lunch. William showed us a bunch of fun places from camp (gravel pits and trout run), we played in the gravel pits, we found a geocache, and completed our final hike to earn a medallion for their hiking sticks. After the nature center, we stopped at Gonzo's Bigg Dog Brewing Company. The boys had enormous root beer floats! Phil got home from work early and we grilled pizzas. Then the boys went over to the frog pond for a bit. On Thursday, we went to Airway Lanes to go bowling and play a few arcade games. Then we went downtown for our traditional lunch at Bell's. The boys and I went home after lunch and Phil and Andrew walked around downtown. After they got back, they took the boys to the pool again. Then we set up the TV outside by the fire pit to watch the Michigan game. On Friday morning, we went to the neighborhood "Up and At 'Em Breakfast" and then had to say goodbye to Uncle Andrew. The boys are already looking forward to next year!
On Saturday, we drove up to Grand Rapids for Charlie and Graham's birthday party. Although the party wasn't until the afternoon, we drove up in the morning and walked around downtown for a while. Their party was a lot of fun, as usual. They had pony rides, a piƱata, and great food. The boys always have a great time.
The boys and I went up to Grand Rapids on Thursday to visit the John Ball Park Zoo. We had a lot of fun riding the funicular, feeding the birds, and checking out the new Tiger exhibit. All the animals were very active!
William has been asking to make our own edible arrangement since he received one for Kindergarten graduation. We decided the perfect time was when Grann came to visit. We had a lot of fun putting it together... and even more fun eating it! The boys also baked and decorated a birthday cake for Grann and took her geocaching while she was here.
William and I went to Grand Rapids for our annual back to school lunch and shopping trip. We picked up the last few items on his school supply list and had lunch at Red Robin (three years running!). Then we walked around the mall and picked up a few shirts and sweatshirts for back to school.
