Auto Show

On Saturday, Phil took the boys to the Detroit Auto Show after Will's morning hockey practice. They parked in Greek Town and took the People Mover to Cobo. The boys enjoyed climbing into all the cars, trucks, and motorcycles. On the way home, they met Grann in Ann Arbor for dinner. This was the first year that Alex was old enough to go. It is a fun annual tradition for the boys!

Alex's Skyzone Party

Alex had his birthday party (with friends) at Skyzone today. We had a good crew in attendance: 11 boys + 1 girl. All the kids were buddies from the neighborhood/school/baseball/tball/watching siblings play baseball. They jumped for an hour and then had pizza, cake and presents in the party room. After the party, two friends came back to our house to play for the afternoon. Alex had a great time! He gets to bring in his birthday treat to school on Monday and then his "Month of Birthday" is officially over.

Happy 5th Birthday, Alex!

Happy 5th Birthday to our sweet, kind, quirky, smart little Alex. He started off his birthday by sleeping in until 9am. He opened a few presents and cards from family members and then had to hunt for his gifts from us. He found a new Pottery Barn chair and a brand new (not a hand-me-down!) bike. He assembled some Legos and then we went to McDonalds for lunch. After lunch, we went to Airway Lanes for some bowling and arcade games. Then it was home for cake. He said he had a really fun day!

Happy New Year!

We spent a fun New Year's Eve at the Grindall's with several other families from the neighborhood. All the kids played nicely until midnight... and then all slept in the next morning!

Little Reader

Alex has been reading 3 letter words since summer. When I mentioned that to Will's former Kindergarten teacher, she started sending home the Kindergarten baggie books for Alex to read. He has been doing a great job - he can usually read almost the entire book on the first attempt without help. The books just started adding in some trickier words: with, this, what, that. This was my first attempt at capturing his reading on video.
