LCAHL Playoffs -KWings

This weekend was the Little Caesar's Amateur Hockey League Playoffs in Trenton. (The scene of the Broncos State Runner-Up performance in 2020 just before things shut down for COVID) This was a single elimination playoff so the pressure was on. We played Compuware in the forst game. We came from behind to tie things up and send the game to sudden death overtime which we won! So the KWings played a second game Saturday night in Dearborn against Macomb. The game was tied 4-4 and Will scored to make it 5-4. Then the Kwings scored again to make it 6-4. Macomb came back and scored two more goals including a last second shot. So we went to another sudden death overtime. We managed to score first to send us to the championship game on Sunday in Trenton. Unfortunately, we lost to a very talented team from Lansing. It was a tough loss but we are so proud of all of them! The boys were sad about the loss but even more upset the season was over. They even insisted on one more team meal because they didn't want things to end.

Final Hockey Weekend - Broncos

This was the final hockey weekend for the Broncos. They played in a tournament here in Kalamazoo. They won both of their games on Friday but lost their game Saturday morning. Their record was good enough to qualify them for the semi finals Saturday night. In between games, we had our end of season party in Burdicks. The kids had pizza and we gave the coaches their gifts from the team. Unfortunately, they lost their semi final game on Saturday night so they are done for the season. It was a great season. We were fortunate to be on a team with great coaches, kids, and families.

 

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

It wouldn’t be St. Patrick’s Day if we didn’t build a leprechaun trap!  We didn’t catch one but Alex did find a lot of chocolate coins in/around the trap throughout the day

 

KWings Family Game and Team Party

We had the KWings team dinner, end of season party, and family game tonight.  One of the other moms and I prepared the taco bar, another mom made a thank you video for the coaches, and we handed out Coach gifts.  Coach Moorman loved his customized “original 6” bench for his ODR along with gift cards to some of his favorite places.   We handed out “Mom Awards” to the players that were puns on different candies.  Will got the “Smartie” award because he “has the smarts to execute plays flawlessly.”  After the party, they played in the family game.  Alex was our representative.  Both boys had a lot of fun - even when Haakon treated Alex like a little brother (he was at our house a lot!) and stole his stick on the ice.  On to the LCHAL playoffs this weekend!

More Shoveling

Will and his teammates were back at work shoveling at the WMU game. The Broncos came from behind again and won in overtime 5-4.

The KWings won their game earlier in the day against rival Fox Motors.  They were down 3-0 but score 5 unanswered goals to win 5-3.

Will and five of his KWings teammates had the opportunity to shovel the ice around the goals during the WMU playoff game tonight. They did a great job and even got to help clear the ice after a hat trick. The Broncos came from behind to win so the boys will be put to work again tomorrow night. Will had been so lucky with all his WMU experiences. He played in a mini game before a WMU game in 2015, was flag boy in 2018, and was flag boy twice in 2019.

 

7th Grade Band Concert

Will had his second band concert of the year tonight. The sixth grade band played first and then the seventh grade band played three songs. They sounded great!  Will played the timpani in the first song, then the bongos, and finally the bass drum.  And of course we stopped for Y'OPA after the show.
