School Fun

The boys have had some fun activities/opportunities at school. Will's gym class was playing disc golf and he got a hole in one!  His prize was a new disc golf disc which he was excited about.  The 8th graders also went to a career fair where they learned about different jobs and had some hands on fun.  

Alex was recently elected to student council.  On Wednesday, he was on the morning announcements letting everyone know about the U of M / MSU spirit day.  Then on Thursday, he was back on the announcements because he was the highest earning 5th grader for Road Rally.  He did a great job!

 

Great Lakes Fall Classic Champions

Alex had his first hockey tournament this weekend in Holland.  The boys played great and won the Championship!  They had so much fun as a team: playing games in the parking lot, swimming, and having team meals.  Phil stayed with him at the hotel but Will and I were able to make it to two games that fit in around his game schedule.  

 

Boo in the Soo

Will and I spent the weekend in Cheboygan for his first hockey tournament of the season.  The drive up was beautiful - colors were definitely at their peak.  The boys won their first game against Copper Country (from the U.P.) 3-2.  After the game, we checked into the hotel and had a team meal.  The boys played football in the parking lot before we had to leave for their second game at 8pm.  They beat the Marquette Jr. Wildcats 3-2 in a come from behind game.  On Saturday morning, Will and I ran out for breakfast and then crossed the Mackinac Bridge to the Upper Peninsula.  We played a very tough team from Canada, the Soo Jr. Greyhounds, and lost 12-0.  But we still earned a spot in semi-finals based on our record.  After the game, we took the boys to the bridge for a team photo and then broke off into small groups for lunch.  Unfortunately, we had to play the Soo team again.  The boys didn't give up and played hard.  We still lost 7-0 but the boys definitely learned from the experience.  On Sunday, we got up early so we could make it back to Kalamazoo for Alex's 12:30 game.  

Thank you to Grandma for staying with Alex and Winger and getting Alex to all his hockey practices and games.  His team won both their games over the weekend and Alex scored two goals on Saturday.  

 

Gull Meadow Farms

We spent a fun afternoon at Gull Meadow Farms: corn maze, apple cannons, pig races, cider & donuts, jumping pillow, barnyard games, pumpkin cannon, and more!  It is one of our favorite fall traditions.  

 

Alex’s First Hockey Game

Alex’s team had their first hockey game today against the Grand Rapids Blades.  They won 14-1 and Alex scored 2 goals.  Grandma came to watch and we all went out to lunch afterwards and then back to her house for a visit.
