Baseball in Kalamazoo

The boys both had tournaments in Kalamazoo this weekend.  Will’s started on Thursday morning at Hackett High School.  They won one and lost one.  They played again on Friday morning and lost 6-5 in a game that was really fun to watch.  On Saturday, the Muskies played in the morning and lost 5-8 but played really well.  They lost  7-8 on Saturday afternoon in another well played game:  after the games, we went to Coach Toennessen’s for a pool party.  The Rebels also played Saturday afternoon and won 10-1 but finished second in their pool and didn’t advance.  The Muskies played in the consolation game Sunday morning and won 12-3.  

 

Muskies in Big Rapids

The Muskies had a fun weekend in Big Rapids.  After their 50/70 game on Thursday night, they had pizza at the ball field.  Then they loaded up in the van and went to the McNally lake house in Big Rapids.  They spent all day at the lake swimming, fishing, kayaking, and playing whiffle ball.  On Saturday, they had two games and then kids and parents went back to the lake for dinner.  Alex decided that two nights sleeping on a cot were enough so he went back to the hotel with me for the night.  Unfortunately, they didn’t win their game Sunday morning so they were done.  While we were gone, Will volunteered at WPLL.

 

Summer 2024 - Week 1

Although Will still had to finish up exams, we did have some fun during the first week of summer. We played games on the porch, went strawberry picking (and made ice cream), and went to the pool.  We also were entertained by the squirrels hanging upside down from the tree in the front yard.

 

PC Baseball Banquet

Tonight was the (rescheduled) PC baseball banquet.  The coaches all spoke and certificates (for JV players) and awards (for seniors) were handed out.  We also had a catered dinner.  

 

Go Rebels!

The Rebels won their first tournament of the season.  Unfortunately, Will wasn’t able to play due to his mild concussion earlier in the week (and the make-up exams he still had to take) but he was in the dugout all weekend. 

Last Day of School

That's a wrap on 6th and 9th!  Although, Will has to take make-up exams next week due to his concussion.  He’s feeling much better and was able to take his 7th hour exam this morning.  

 

ETS Sports Diamond Showdown Runners-Up

Alex had a baseball tournament in LaPorte, Indiana this weekend. They played through the rain on Saturday and won their game against the Michiana Repetition 8-4.  Unfortunately, their second game was cancelled because the fields were just too wet.  Most of the team stayed at a hotel in the area so the boys got to go out for a team dinner and swim in the pool.  Their one win earned them the #1 seed and they played the Repetition again in the semi finals on Sunday.  The Muskies won that game 12-4.  Unfortunately, they lost in the championship to the LaPorte Crush Black (who have an 18-3 record).  But, they did get some nice second place plaques.
