Chicago

We took a quick trip to Chicago since we hadn’t gone with the boys during the holidays in several years. We had lunch at Eataly, shopped on Michigan Avenue, went to Zoo Lights, visited the Christkrindal Market (so crowded!), and had lunch in the Walnut Room.  

 

Will’s First High School Goal

Will scored his first high school goal tonight in the Muskies game against KU.  

 

Happy Hanukkah!

We had our traditional Hanukkah dinner tonight consisting of brisket, turkey, latkes, challah, matzo ball soup, apple sauce, and babka and cookies for dessert. The boys opened gifts and we played a family game.  The boys have concerts and hockey games this week and the adults have meetings so we took advantage of everyone being home!

 

Candy Cane Lane

We had a free Sunday so we decided to go downtown. To walk the mall and see Candy Cane Lane.  We did a little shopping and then walked through the Radisson.  Then we went to Bell’s and sat upstairs and played a few card games.  We had giant pizza at Benny DiCarta’s and then walked through Bronson Park.  

 

Jazz Band - Barnes & Noble Book Fair

On Friday night, the middle school Jazz Band performed at Barnes and Noble.  They had two shows: one at 6:30 and on at 7:30.  The Jazz Band formed in early fall and started practicing once a week starting in October - so they only met 9 times as a group.  It is made up of students from West Middle School and Central Middle School.  The kids from CMS take a bus over to WMS for practice on Wednesdays.   

 

8th Grade Band Concert

Alex had his 8th grade band concert tonight. The first three songs were repeats from their concert at WMU but the final song was a fun holiday piece. They did a great job as usual!

 

Gingerbread Houses

The boys still wanted to decorate gingerbread houses this year so we tackled that on Sunday evening before watching our first Christmas movie of the season.  They turned out great.
