Growler's Game

The boys and I went to the Growlers' playoff game last night. We had great seats, the boys played in the Kids' Zone, they ran the bases between innings, and they each managed to get a ball (and autographs!). Unfortunately, the Growlers didn't win but it was a fun night.

Summer Time in Northern Michigan - Saturday/Sunday

On Saturday morning, we took the boat out again for some fishing. Unfortunately, we didn't catch anything but the boys seemed to have fun. Then we drove to Cedar to have lunch at the Taco Stand and then went to visit our property in Sutton's Bay. Next we went into town to check out the Sutton's Bay sidewalk sale and spent some time at the beach. On our way back to the cottage, we stopped at Moomer's for ice cream and cow viewing. Then the boys went tubing one last time. On Sunday morning, we packed up the car and went back to Platte River Beach for the day. Will managed to catch a fish in a bucket, the boys swam in both the river and Lake Michigan, and built a sandcastle. It was another great trip up north and we are thankful to the Hofmeyers for letting us take over the cottage for the weekend!

Summer Time in Northern Michigan - Friday

On Friday morning, we drove to Sleeping Bear Dunes and went to the Scenic Overlook. We went down the big dune all the way to the water and then climbed back up - in 20 minutes! Not bad, considering the signs warn it can take up to two hours to climb back up. It was a beautiful morning and we were one of the first groups on the dune. Then we drove to the Honor Trading Post to prepare for tubing down the Platte River. Tubing took about 2.5 hours and then we spent some time at the Platte River Beach. After the beach, we went to Traverse City for pizza and wandered the Friday Night Street Fair. The boys found a chess booth and each took on a local chess master who was playing 8 games at the same time. The boys both lost, but did get a free chess set for their efforts! We also saw the bubble man and a fire juggler.
