More Snow Days!

The snow started falling again on Saturday. That, and extremely cold temperatures, lead to 3 more snow days for William. We filled our time with trips to the bowling alley, forts, dance parties, Chuck E. Cheese, and Grandpa's trains.

Weekend in the "D"

We had a great weekend in Detroit. We left after work on Thursday. It took us a little longer than usual due to the weather, but the boys were able to play for a little bit before bed. On Friday morning, we went to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. The boys loved looking at all the trains. The cars, airplanes, farm equipment, etc. were ok... but the trains were by far their favorite part. They really liked playing inside one of the enormous steam engines and they pretended it was an "El" and we were letting people on and off. Alex also had a great view of their electric model trains that were running from the engine so he was content to sit and watch. In the afternoon, Alex took a nap and Phil and William went to the mall to run around for a while. Then Alex had a "date night" with Grann and we took Will to the Pistons game. We had great seats - behind the basket and first row (behind courtside seats). The cheerleaders were literally sitting at our feet and they made friends with William. He got to dance with them and also got to meet Hooper the mascot. He also "caught" the balls and t-shirts they were throwing out. He seemed to enjoy the game and now wants to play basketball all the time in the basement.

On Saturday, Phil went down to the auto show and Grann and I took the boys for haircuts. Then we played until mid afternoon when Aunt Maran and Allie came over for dinner. The cousins had a lot of fun playing together. They get along really well.

We had a fun family weekend. Phil got back from Arizona on Thursday (he missed all the horrible weather) and we went out for a family lunch after picking Will up from school. On Saturday, we went downtown to the museum and then Phil and Will played outside for quite a while. The temperature was actually above 32 so it was great snowman weather. On Sunday, we went for a snowy nature walk at the trails across the street.

Alex's Birthday Party

We had a very nice birthday party for Alex today. Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Mara and Uncle Ken drove down from Grand Rapids and Grann, Aunt Maran, and Allie came in from Detroit. Will and Alex had fun showing off all their new Christmas gifts. They had a lot of fun playing in the bounce house and riding the roller coaster. After lunch, Alex opened his gifts (with the help of William and Allie). He was definitely spoiled by his family! Then we all had some cake and ice cream. Alex seemed to like being the center of attention and sat patiently through "Happy Birthday" although, he was pretty eager to cut the cake.
Let me at it!
