Spring Break Fun

Although we didn't go anywhere for spring break, we managed to do some fun things during the week. After Easter brunch, Grandma and Grandpa took the boys to Grand Rapids for two nights. They went to Calvin College to walk the sky walk, Rockford for lunch at Ramona's Table and a visit to the spillway, and stopped at Jersey Junction. While the boys were gone, Phil and I took advantage of the nice weather and went for a long walk at Al Sabo Nature Preserve across the street. I was also able to paint the laundry room. On Wednesday, the boys and I went bowling at Airway Lanes. Alex won the first game and Will won the second. On Thursday afternoon, we met some friends at Bounce Land and then William was invited to his first slumber party. He was so excited! They went out for pizza, played in their cul-de-sac, and watched a movie. On Friday, we had 10 cubic yards of mulch delivered in the morning. I went to pick up William late morning and we stayed to play for a little longer. Then after lunch, we started spreading the mulch. The boys both helped and we spent the entire afternoon outside. We promised them we would start a fire and roast hot dogs and s'mores. Unfortunately, it started to rain just as we got the fire started. We were still able to cook our dinner over the flame, but had to picnic in the garage. On Saturday, Phil had to go up to the Little League fields for field clean-up in the morning. Then we spent most of the afternoon outside. In the evening, we went over to our fiends' house. We had two babysitters come over to watch the kids in one house and the grown-ups went next door for dinner. On Sunday, we went to Celery Flats so the kids could ride their bikes on the trail. We packed a picnic and ate at the playground. Alex did a great job - it was about 3 miles round trip.
