If you're lucky enough to be up north, you're lucky enough!

The boys had a half day on Friday and the Hofmeyers were so nice and let us go up to the cottage one last time for the season. We got into town around 4:30 and went down to the lake to see if we could get in a quick boat ride before it started to get dark. We knew it was windy, but didn't realize how windy it was until we saw the white caps on the lake and waves crashing over the dock. We spent a little time down by the lake but did not get out on the boat. We had a nice camp fire and roasted hotdogs for dinner before watching a movie. On Saturday, we went for a walk near the cottage and then went to Sutton's Bay to play disc golf with the boys. The course was much longer than the one we play by WMU so we only attempted 9 holes. Then we went to our property to see if there were any fall colors. There were a few trees that were changing colors but our big discovery were the apple trees! We found 3 or 4 trees that were full of apples. A few of the trees had sour apples but one of them had big, sweet ones. After our tour, we went to Traverse City for lunch and then played mini golf at Pirate's Cove. Then we went back to the cottage for our boat ride and some fishing (we didn't catch anything). On Sunday, we got up early to drive back to Sutton's Bay to see the sunrise. The colors were beautiful as we were driving up the bay, however, it was pretty light by the time we got settled. We did see the sun come up over the peninsula. Then we grabbed breakfast and coffee at Bud's before packing up to head home. We heard it was a short apple season this year and wanted to get in some apple picking before it was too late.

Ahh!  Enjoying the Lake.
Serious fisherman.
Happy boy.
The lake was like glass on Saturday.  Quite a difference!
