Hockey Filled Weekend

We had a hockey filled weekend (more than usual). On Friday night, Will just had practice at Wings Event Center. On Saturday morning, Alex had games at Wings West. He was pretty excited that he scored 9 goals. You can see his goals and celebrations below. After Alex's game we drove to Wings Event Center for Will's game against the Berrien Freeze. Then we went to Lawson for the WMU game. Will and his friend Drake were "flag kids" before the game.  The WMU Broncos beat Denver 5-1 - it was an exciting game to watch!  On Sunday,
Alex had hockey practice and then Will's team had tickets to the KWings game in the afternoon. The KWings won 4-3 in another exciting hockey game.

Sledding

We took advantage of the sunshine and above-zero temperatures to do some sledding today.

Suttons Bay in the Winter

Phil and I spent a fun weekend in Traverse City and Suttons Bay last weekend. We drove up early Friday morning. We stopped for lunch at Bay Breads before heading to our property. It was sunny and cold but the view was still beautiful. We found some of the hidden property markers since they weren't hidden by tall grasses and leaves. Then we went into Suttons Bay before heading back to Traverse. We did a little shopping and had dinner at Mama Lou's. On Saturday, we went to the Builders' Expo which was at the Grand Traverse Resort. We met a few builders that are now on our short list and learned it wasn't too early to start the design process. It was much colder on Saturday but we still did a little bit of walking and then went to Jolly Pumpkin for dinner. On Sunday, it was very cold and snowy but we went back to the property with some orange gorilla tape to mark the posts. We hope it will make them easier to find in the spring/summer. After brunch at the 45th Parallel, we drove back home.

Alex's Birthday Party

Alex had a fun birthday party at Airway Lanes with a few of his buddies from class. They spent an hour bowling and then went to the party room for pizza, cake, and presents. Then they went to the arcade for a bit before ending the party with a game of laser tag. Everyone seemed to have a good time!

Cousins!

We had a fun visit with Aunt Maran, Allie and Emma on Friday. The kids played in the basement and visited with the Guinea Pigs in the morning. Then we took them to One Well which is one of our favorite spots. The kids played pinball, pacman and giant UNO while we had lunch. Then they played outside for a few hours before they had to head home.

Birthday Fun

We had a lot of fun celebrating Alex's birthday. On January 1, we decided to give him his big gift from us since Phil had to go back to work on the 2nd. We didn't want him to have to wait all day to open it. We gave him an electric keyboard because he wants to start taking piano lessons. He was very excited! On his actual birthday, he woke up to streamers and a "7" balloon outside his door. The kitchen was decorated and he opened a few gifts while eating his birthday donut. We took a trip to Airway for bowling (Alex won our first game) and the arcade. Phil came home from work a little early so we could have cake and open his last few gifts from us. One present was a puzzle cube he had to solve to get the first clue for a scavenger hunt. At the end of the hunt, he found some scratch lotto tickets and won $17. While Will was at hockey, we cashed the tickets in and he spent a little of his earnings buying Pokémon cards and candy at the dollar store. He said he had a great birthday!

Happy Birthday, Alex!

Happy 7th Birthday to this sweet boy. He loves playing hockey and baseball. His nose is always buried in a book - usually non-fiction. And he is a very competitive board game player. He is thoughtful and kind. We hope you have a great year!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year from the Maguran Family! We had a fun night with friends. We started by going out to dinner at Texas Corners Brewing Company. They had a 4 course meal planned and we had a nice time while all the kids stayed home with a sitter. We were home by 9:30 or so and hung out until the ball drop/champagne toast at midnight.
