Christmas Tree Day

Friday was our annual "Christmas Tree Day." We met our friends in Rockford at Hart's Tree Farm. After cutting down the perfect tree, we went into town for lunch at the Corner Bar. Then it was home to decorate the tree. It is officially the holiday season!

Train Day

The boys had the day off from school so it was Train Day! They were up bright and early and started decorating their little tree that stands in the middle of the tracks. We decided to set them up in our bedroom this year so we didn't have to move all the legos. It will also be nice to see the snow outside while they play. After the tree was decorated, the boys took turns adding cars to the little train (Lionel) and taking it for test runs around the track. Unfortunately, we ran into some trouble with the big train (Bachmann) so we had to run to the Hobby Shop to have the wire re-soldered. It was a quick fix and we were able to set up the big train when we got home. Grandpa wasn't able to join us this year but we did Facetime with him so he was able to see the trains running.

Feast of Favorites

The first graders had their "Feast of Favorites" today during their lunch. They have been learning about the food groups and everyone signed up to bring something in: fruits, vegetables, grains, meats, dairy and fats/sweets. Alex brought in a big bowl of red grapes. Each classroom also made hats for one of the four main food groups. Alex's class was the meat group and made adorable turkey leg hats.

Bronco Hockey - Cadillac Freeze Tournament

Will had his first overnight hockey tournament in Cadillac this weekend. They played their first game on Friday night and got their first win of the season. The team had a block of rooms reserved at a local hotel/resort. The boys had door signs and everyone had pizza together at the hotel. They won their second game on Saturday morning and then won their third on Saturday night. Since they were 3-0, they made it into the semi-finals on Sunday morning. They had another team dinner at the hotel and spent a little time in the pool/hot tub. They ended up playing one of teams they had played earlier in the tournament in the semi-finals and won again which put them in the finals Sunday afternoon. They lost to a very good team but did get runner-up medals which was exciting. The video below shows Will's celebration after he scored his first goal and the team celebration after they won their first game.
Two assists for Will

Alex's First Hockey Game

Alex is once again a BJ Sports Bull (he was on their team two years ago for Beginning Hockey) but this time he has a cool, royal blue jersey. They had their first games on Saturday and Alex played really well. He scored 8 goals in their 3 games and was skating hard the entire time. At the end of the video, you will see him score a nice "top shelf" goal.

Crazy Little Guineas

The boys love playing with their Guinea Pigs every night. Brady has turned into quite the acrobat - jumping over books standing on end. We've started hiding peppers in lunch bags and they think that is pretty fun. They are sweet little pets.
