Phil and I have been talking about retiring to the Traverse City/Sutton's Bay area for many years. We recently started looking online and decided that we needed to actually meet with a realtor and start the process. We went up in June and found a piece of land that we loved. It is about 10 miles north of Traverse City and 5 miles south of Sutton's Bay. It is 7 wooded acres with a great view of the West Bay. You can see Old Mission Peninsula and Powers Island from the land. I went back up to verify our property lines in July and then we put in an offer! We closed on July 31 and went up to show the boys this past weekend. The land is in a small development with 11 other homesites. Several are still undeveloped. We are within a mile of Shady Lane Vineyard and Mawby and are also very close to the Leelanau Trail that runs between Traverse City and Sutton's Bay. The boys enjoyed exploring the land and we had a nice picnic and enjoyed the view. Now we have 10+ years to plan our dream home!
