Up North Vacation - Part 1

On Wednesday afternoon, we drove to Interlochen for our annual visit to the Hofmeyer's cottage. It is definitely one of the highlights of the summer. When we got to the cottage, we always walk down to the docks to check out the lake. The boys tell us all the "facts" about the area: which cottage had a skunk living under it, where a big tree branch fell down, which cottage doesn't have a driveway, where Frankie jumped in the mud, how they moved one of the docks, etc. On Thursday morning, we woke up to rain so we decided to go into Traverse City for the $0.25 matinee of "Boss Baby." The State Theater was very cool and we all enjoyed the movie. By the time the show was over, it had stopped raining. We drove up to Sutton's Bay (making a quick stop at our land) and had lunch at 45th Parallel. Then we drove through Northport and up to the tip of the peninsula to tour the Grand Traverse Light House. We did a scavenger hunt in the "keeper's quarters" and went all the way to the top. When we got back to the cottage, we took the pontoon boat out for a quick ride. As we were recovering the boat, we saw a double rainbow over the lake. As we walked back to the cottage, a mama and baby deer jumped across the path.
The Hofmeyer's didn't realize we were actually moving in!
